We tried to hire velo bleu last year but failed after hours of trying, so this year we pre-registered on line b4 we went. When you get to the airport in Nice there is a bike station outside near the road. Make sure your phone is off airplane mode & that u have contacted your phone company to set it... More

We tried to use our phones to rent a bike but it became too difficult. We ended up going to the office of Velo Bleu and they gave us card with a chip that made it much easier to rent and return a bike from each station. We enjoy renting bikes in a city to see the sites. The bike... More

Have just tried this today (2nd June 2015) and I must say I found it fairly straightforward and easy to use. Dial the number requested - then option 2 and a very clear English version takes all your details to start renting. The stations can be a bit tricky as some machines seem to freeze, but simply move over to... More

We (my husband!) managed to get past the complicated process and rent the bikes. Once you're validated, its a fairly straightforward process. I think the system is designed for the locals, hence the instructions are not clear for tourists. We enjoyed very much using the bikes, and the system of dropping off and picking up wherever is convenient to you... More

I attempted to rent a bike. The keyword is "attempted". After reading instructions and even trying to translate the French instructions hoping that it gave me more insight than the English instructions I spent 40 minutes with no success. The only reason I am giving it two stars versus one star is because in trying to rent a bike I... More

The whole experience of trying to rent a bike at one of these stations is farcical! For an English speaking tourist its complete guess work. The stations themselves only have English in the 'safety notice', nothing about how to rent a bike! Once you start messing around with the keypad/screen by chance you may land on the ability to show... More

We had read the previous reviews of the Velo Bleu systems before deciding whether to rent the bikes and I was apprehensive about using them given the reviews, however, my boyfriend persuaded me and I am so pleased he did. We registered by phone prior to using the bikes and called the number and followed the on screen instructions, which... More

Have used Velo Blue before, last time was around a year ago - sadly it's no better today. As others have mentioned, it's ridiculously difficult to register. The website is only in French and although the bike stations have instructions in English they don't really make sense. I had previously registered but have a new, French mobile phone which meant... Having a bike to get around Nice is great fun and very useful, but the process of hiring the blue bikes is tiresome if you want more than one bike each time, and almost all the bikes we rented over 4 days had faults, making them at the very least uncomfortable and awkward to ride, and at the worst dangerous.... It is not straight forward trying to access a bike from Velo Blue. After a lot of time I managed to register that I wanted to use the system, at a cost. But I could not go on to actually hiring a bike using my Visa debit card. I persevered and went to the information centre twice (by the main... More
