For a private collection with seemingly mismatched pieces the Musee d'Art Classique de Mougins hosts an amazing collection. The owner/curator has clearly gone to a lot of effort to inform visitors about each piece and the continuity of artistic themes. The ancient works are incredibly beautiful. Definitely visit if you have a chance! The museum and town are more impressive... More

This is absolutely my kind of museum, and as others have mentioned it is a really good size so it feels very manageable and you have time to read most of the information panels. The Venus vitrine in particular is a highlight. I've been to many museums in the world but never one like this before. We were staying about... More

This museum centres on Ancient Greece and Rome, providing historical artefacts, famous modern art influenced by the period and interactive videos. The best thing is it's pretty small so it can be done within an hour.

One of the best museums we have visited - not so large that it is exhausting to see everything, but packed full of fascinating artifacts including egyptian, roman and greek objects that would not look out of place in a major national collection. Written descriptions and touch-screen guides provide comprehensive information in a choice of languages, and a lift runs... More

It's really a museum of classical art, as the name suggests -- Egyptian, Greek, Roman -- but they throw in a few modern works by the likes of Braque and Picasso (who spent time in Mougins). It's small and on three floors, and so they have to limit the number inside at any time. They have multilingual displays of how... More

Greek, Roman, and contemporary art share a small space with huge results. The actual pieces, the juxtapositions, everything conspires to create a great experience for those who drop in while in Mougins vielle village. Welcoming, multi-lingual staff add to the overall ambiance. A must see!

There are plenty of little Art galleries to see in Mougins, but these are often focused on sales and vary in quality. This museum is a collection of art and archeological artefacts of a single person, which in itself is astonishing, given the range if work squeezed into three floors of the modest but well resourced building. I visited with... More

A great small museum showing a stunning private collection of works of art, Ancient Greek and Egyptian armoury, coins and sculpture. Definitely worth visiting and the armour, helmets etc from antiquity is breathtaking. This could easily be held in private and nobody would ever see, so thank you for sharing.
