Discover, in the heart of the old village of Mougins, how the beauty of the ancient world has influenced neoclassical, modern and contemporary art. The Museum’s large and diverse collection of antiquities includes Roman, Greek and Egyptian sculpture, vases, coins, and jewellery, and also the world’s largest private collection of ancient arms and armour. These ancient artworks are interspersed with many classically-inspired paintings, drawings, and scupltures by artists such as Picasso, Matisse, Chagall, Dufy, Cézanne, Rodin, Dali, Andy Warhol, Marc Quinn, Anthony Gormley and Damien Hirst.NewWe will be co-hosting a temporary exhibition with the village of Mougins from the 12th April to 28th May 2012, Myths & Heros.A selection of sculptures, paintings & mosaics by Picasso, Arman, Sosno, Renoir, Rubens, Cezanne & Turchi on display in the Espace Culturelle.

Near the main way into this ancient village, the newly refurbished building crams in an eclectic mix of exhibits, building links across the millennia - from ancient Egypt and classical Greece, to Marc Chagall and Damien Hirst. A refreshing change from the usual organisation of museums and galleries by era, and one which in this relatively small space seems to... More

Mougins Museum of Classical Art is different from all other art museums I've visited. It's unique in its presentation style: ancient works of art stand side by side with modern art pieces. Sometimes it's not easy to distinguish between the two! You may or may not like it but it's certainly well presented with lighting and overall cool modern museum... More

Not to be missed by art and history interested. Coupling of antiquities and contemporary art, through the intermingling of a very discerning collector's exquisite taste and curator's exceptional choreography.

My first time to come there and i was amazed how it was kept, nice view because this village was located on top so you can overlook the beauty of nature, interesting arts displayed on the street , small houses with good people and nice cozy restaurant:)

The Musée d’Art Classique de Mougins is possibly the most fascinating museum I have ever visited and I would suggest that it is a “must” for anyone who is within 100 kilometers of Mougins. Opened in 2011 and named the European Museum of the Year in 2013, the MACM “highlights the dialogue between the old and the new” with ancient... More

This brand new museum opened in 2011 and gives you the opportunity to admire Roman , Greek or Egyptian antiques as well as modern painting from Picasso or Matisse. It's absolutely wonderful. Modern and at the same time a breathtaking view from every window.

This tiny museum is a 'must see' for anyone interested in art - ancient and modern. The collection is wonderful. I really enjoyed the Greek and Roman sculptures. However, the exhibits that left me 'open mouthed' with astonishment were the ancient arms and armour on the top floor. A fully inclusive chronology of Greek and Italian armour from the seventh... Fantastic place. A bit of Louvre relocated to Mougins. A rich British broker and art collector has made his collection available to the general public. Classic art intermixed with some modern pieces. Egyptian, Roman, Greek art presented in a welcoming atmosphere. A real gem. Not to be missed!!

What an amazing collection of archaeolgical artifacts from BC and the early centuries AD. The museum is relatively new and we found it quite by accident. The entry fee is worth every Euro, so don't be discouraged.by that. Educational, interesting and very well presented so no need for prior knowledge of the history of those years.

What a brilliant gallery. Stopped off at this four floor museum and spent hours there soaking it all in. From Roman busts to Damien Hirst skulls and the levitating Egyptian sarcophagus at the far end, it was a real joy to see. Really originally put together and well planned out, I would advise anyone to go see this exhibition! Alex... More
