This is a private collection assembled by an Englishman who decided to build his own museum. The collection comprises mainly Egyptian, Greek and Roman artefacts. The are combined with modern classical paintings by Picasso, Dufy, Dali, right up to Damien Hirst whose themes are largely classical and therefore in harmony with the old forms. The receptionist was extxremely friendly and... More

If you do just one cultural visit whilst sunning yourself in the south of France then this should be it. Mougins itself is the most beautiful village, with restaurants, bars and galleries. It even has a children's play area. The museum has an amazing collection of classical artefacts and modern art and it is arranged in such a way that... More

Situated between Cannes and Antibes and a little bit inland, The Mougins Museum of Classical Art combines Roman, Greek and Egyptian antiquities with Picasso, Matisse, Chagall, Dufy, Cézanne, Rodin, Dali, Wargol, etc. The jewellery, armor, and coins, are beautifully displayed and arranged with the modern in fascinating exhibits. Don't Miss! The little village of Mougins is charming, but we could... More

Wonderful museum in a charming town. The Greek and Roman artifacts are displayed beautifully and the display makes it easy to appreciate the pieces. A nice amalgam of antiquities to modern art. From a 700 BC helmet to Andy Warhol. A bargain admission price and air conditioning!

Very interesting to join the ancientwith the modern. Especially enjoyed the Roman jewellery, amazing quality and interested to see that we are still influenced by this even today. Although small, easy to navigate worth a visit in beautiful Mougins

Near the main way into this ancient village, the newly refurbished building crams in an eclectic mix of exhibits, building links across the millennia - from ancient Egypt and classical Greece, to Marc Chagall and Damien Hirst. A refreshing change from the usual organisation of museums and galleries by era, and one which in this relatively small space seems to... More

Mougins Museum of Classical Art is different from all other art museums I've visited. It's unique in its presentation style: ancient works of art stand side by side with modern art pieces. Sometimes it's not easy to distinguish between the two! You may or may not like it but it's certainly well presented with lighting and overall cool modern museum... More

Not to be missed by art and history interested. Coupling of antiquities and contemporary art, through the intermingling of a very discerning collector's exquisite taste and curator's exceptional choreography.

The Musée d’Art Classique de Mougins is possibly the most fascinating museum I have ever visited and I would suggest that it is a “must” for anyone who is within 100 kilometers of Mougins. Opened in 2011 and named the European Museum of the Year in 2013, the MACM “highlights the dialogue between the old and the new” with ancient... More
