A stunning building, worth a visit for that alone. We have seen two interesting Cocteau exhibitions here now and the small temporary exhibitions are also interesting. This time it was work by Daphne Corregan, mostly ceramics - well displayed. The light in the building is fantastic, as is the view out across the water with the late afternoon sun. The... More

Museum was surprisingly busy on a late October visit, with a good number of tourists. The collection of Cocteau, along with some Picasso and Matisse, is fascinating. It is very well laid out and lit, although the large windows allow for more reflection on some pieces than you would like.

We visited the old Cocteau Museum some years ago but this new building is a great venue to display more of his work. The staff were lovely and as well as his art there are videos of his films and other examples of his work. In the ticket price you can still visit the old bastion where the display was... More

This new museum took me completely by surprise. The building is perfectly suited to the collection presented there. Everything is well laid out thematically (Cocteau did such a lot of different things) and the exhibits clearly explained and related to each other and to Cocteau's entourage and influences (Picasso, Matisse etc.). I didn't know a great deal about his life... More

Very interesting collection which is laid out in a wonderful building. We went as a group as the entrance charge is quite high.

The Cocteau museum in Menton opened in 2011 and is a five star attraction in my view in large part for the building itself which has such a clever architectural design, also for the quality of exhibit material and the nice light interior design which offers glimpses of the sea outside. On saying that if you don't have any particular... More

Jean Cocteau used to live in South of France. One of the great art collectors Severin Wunderman gave his collection to the City of Menton. They built a beautiful building that hosts the collection. A beautiful jewelry box to exhibit the finest gems of the Master. An "absolute" must visit if you are travelling in the region.

The museum is well maintained and as well as Jean Cocteau sketches etc., there are pictures by Matisse and Picasso. The staff were very helpful and if you are there during lunch time the museum has a small snack bar where you can purchase hot/cold drinks and snacks.

This is an interesting collection of art. I do agree with the previous reviewer about him being a wannabe Picasso though. And I did find a few of the photos pretentious but I guess if your in that elite art club then you would want the world to know who you mix with! But, that aside, it was only 5... More
