The little island outside Cannes was a very unexpected gem. It seems to be a place the natives escape to in order to get away from all the tourists in Cannes. There were the most exquisite little cliff bay to tan and bath from.

Lovely day out. Just roll up to Cannes ferry terminal for a 10 minute trip. The day was so beautiful (at the end of October!) that we decided to spend it all outdoors and save the visit to the chateau for another trip. Lovely walks and gorgeous views. A fine bowl of mussels in L'Escale (the only restaurant available at that... More

For about 12EUR you can pick up a ticket at the port on the day and take a trip to Isla Santa Margarita at anytime. The old prison complex is fascinating and the forest is gorgeous to walk around. If you're going in the off season pack a lunch as most of the amenities were closed when I went in... More

The atmosphere on the whole island. Beautiful views over Cannes. The mystery around the Masque de Fer. The tall eucalyptus trees and pine trees.

Trip from the chateau of Mandelieu la Napoule for the last of the season, to the island. Short boat trip at 17 euro. Give the coffee on board a miss...We made a day of it. Returned on the last boat at 17:00. Stopped at L'Escale restaurant. Enormous portions and they let us mix and match around the set menu. A... More

... across the island, feel the pines smell and listen to sounds of cicadas. There is no many high banks, thus you can reach the sea almost everywhere and swim in the crystal clean water. Most probably you will not feel yourself totally distanced from Cannes hustle, you'll still meet solo-walkers and companies everywhere on the island, but that's okey... More

On a whim, we decided to catch the train from Nice to Cannes and visit Ile Sainte-Marguerite. A brief 15 minute boat ride from the port in Cannes, this island was once home to the imprisoned "Man in the Iron Mask." The Fort Royal still stands and can be toured for an additional admission fee. We opted to skip the... More

It is an okay trip to make out to the Isla Santa Margarita (Isle Sainte Marguerite) from Cannes, if you have the time. It is one of the nearby islands dotting around Cannes, reachable only by boat (a 15-min ride). The waters are crystal blue and the island is quite rugged and rough. There are plenty of jellyfish in the... More

we went for the day -on the ferry from Cannes and it was an easy trip across. Weather was very hot and we visited the old prison where the man with the iron mask was imprisoned - which in the museum was the only cool place as there was no shade! Although have to say it was a great day... More
