We were staying in Nice and took a day trip to Cagnes Sur Mer specifically for Haut de Cagnes. The Bourg was beautiful and the views were awesome. I read that there was a museum in the castle at the top of the hill and assumed it was an historic museum of the castle and the area. Just know, it... More

I feel sorry for the tourists who never make it up the hill from the little-special Cagnes sur Mer tourist trap. The medieval village of Haut de Cagnes was slow and perfect for my morning walk in June followed by a good lunch with a spectacular view. I'm soooo glad I made it to this part of the world for... Give Cagnes-Sur-Mer the flic....by-pass it all together and follow the signs to 'Bourg Medieval' which will deposit you in the most beautiful village perched on the Riviera. This steeply cobbled Old Town fee;s like a mini Camelot built amongst the clouds. think tiny,cuter-than-cute piazzas, winding alleys and charm oozing out of every street that changes into stairways. Its a place for... More

Old towns can sometimes be a disappointment. This was not. We caught the local free bus up to the top as it looks like a long steep walk. We wandered around cobbled streets, visited an atmospheric church and an interesting castle with great views before having a lovely outdoor lunch. Recommended.

This is a pretty old town area of Cagnes, with steep narrow roads leading to the Chateau at the top (which now houses a museum). This is worth a walk if you are in the area, but there are much more picturesque hilltop villages in the area only a short drive away with more to do, such as St Paul... More

we were based in a gorgeous home in the haute village. the trip up with our car and luggage was scary but once we had unpacked, settled in and regained our breath it was a wonderful experience. Parking the car at the car park just at the base of the village is a very good option for only 6.60 euros... More

Beautiful medieval village that is not run over by tourists. There is a nice Grimaldi family castle at the top which is nice to visit, but the real treat is walking the streets of this 500 year old town in which people still move in to live!

First of all, to really appreciate your visit to Haut de Cagnes you must first park your car in town (Cagnes sur Mer) and walk approx 15 minutes (for the average walker) from town to the top of Haut de Cagnes to appreciate the beautiful scenery. Once you've reached the peak there are three restaurants to choose from for dinner,... More

We stayed in Haut de Cagnes and it's a stunning place, perched above the town and served every 15 minutes by a free shuttle bus. You need it for the trip up but the walk down is a delight through a warren of alleyways, past gorgeous wooden doors surrounded by flowers and with more blooms cascading down from the balconies... We stayed in the Haut de Cagne. It is a beautiful medieval village on a hill. This leads to a square with the Grimaldi castle, fantastic restaurants and spectacular views. Well worth a visit. We stayed for 2 weeks and loved it.
