This place is set on a hill top where a castle should be and t did not disappoint! It's charm is beyond compare and is a very short and cheap train ride from Nice. The streets are so uncrowded.... actually for us in January there were barely any people there. Had a glorious lunch and view at a restaurant at... More

Good view from top of the hill. Nice ride with a free small tourist bus leaving from the center of Cagnes sur Mer. There's castle on the top has a museum, you can see even better from the tower. Inside some funny modern art.

I got a kick out of the reviewer who preferred St Paul de Vence over Haut de Cagnes. Yes it's bigger and more picturesque from a distance, but you can't compare the charm, quaintness and authenticity up close. Actually, I had never heard of Haut de Cagnes. This was an accidental find. I was driving from Antibes to Nice, enjoying... More

Beautiful vista and old village above the city. You can walk up the windy road from town or catch the free shuttle. I arrived in the main courtyard of the castle just before sunset. Lovely.

If you like history and art, this is an easy day trip from Nice. Take a quick and cheap commuter train ride from Nice central train station to Cagnes-sur-Mer. Follow the signs to Renoir's home and studio; this is a lovely site with family photos, Renoir paintings, and beautiful garden views of Haut de Cagnes. Then walk down the hill... More

Very tiny but worth a trip for a short walk around to the narrow streets to see the jamble of houses and magnificent views. It also has a small Medieval Chateau open to the public which houses art exhibitions and a few nice restaurants for lunch etc. It is easily reached by the free navette mini bus from the central... We loved our stay in Haut de Cagnes. It is a beautiful, quiet place to stroll along the narrow streets, with beautiful views from the castle.

We walked from the base of the area to the top, following some marked path that went through a lot of steep climbs. Just be prepared if you do walk up - it might be taxing especially during warmer weather. When you reach the top you can see sweeping views of the area. There are also a few restaurants and... More

The vieille ville of Cagnes sur Mer is often overlooked in the rush to visit the many attractions of the Riviera. Any yet it is a stone throw from Cannes and easily accessible from a free shuttle bus departing from the centre on the lower town, where you can fing ample parking for your car. The old village is small... More

Stumbled upon here by accident. Unfortunately we were driving our American muscle car which was extremely challenging thought the narrow roads! So very pretty and romantic. Looks like a postcard.
