A lovely little village. Take the free shuttle and spend time exploring! A visit to the Grimaldi Castle is a must.

I would put it with Colmar as the towns that I like the best. Cagne sur mer has beautiful alleys for a leisurely stroll. There are choices of cafe for a cup of coffee in tranquility, without the hustle and bustle of packs of tourists. You will be able to take beautiful pictures without being a photographer.

We didn't stay overnight in this beautiful unspoilt and non-touristic gem of a village. In fact, we only discovered it during the last hour or two of our stay. The hike up the hill is so pretty, with little houses lining the streets, and tiny cafes and b&bs. NONE of it is touristy. It's a medieval village with a beautiful... More

We caught the free shuttle bus from Cagnes up to Haut de Cagnes one October (ask at the Info centre where it goes from nowadays. Marvellous for those who can't manage the walk.) - and joined a very informative nearly free guided tour of the village (in French). A little gem of a place - but don't tell everyone of... More

A beautiful, unspoilt and generally untouristy medieval village. Definitely worth a visit but give the modern town directly below it a big miss. The beach promenade is nice, but a little inaccessible from Haut Cagnes, requiring two changes of bus. Haut Cagnes village is definitely worth a visit, but you can see it in one day easily. The restaurants are... More

We were staying in Nice and took a day trip to Cagnes Sur Mer specifically for Haut de Cagnes. The Bourg was beautiful and the views were awesome. I read that there was a museum in the castle at the top of the hill and assumed it was an historic museum of the castle and the area. Just know, it... More

I feel sorry for the tourists who never make it up the hill from the little-special Cagnes sur Mer tourist trap. The medieval village of Haut de Cagnes was slow and perfect for my morning walk in June followed by a good lunch with a spectacular view. I'm soooo glad I made it to this part of the world for... Give Cagnes-Sur-Mer the flic....by-pass it all together and follow the signs to 'Bourg Medieval' which will deposit you in the most beautiful village perched on the Riviera. This steeply cobbled Old Town fee;s like a mini Camelot built amongst the clouds. think tiny,cuter-than-cute piazzas, winding alleys and charm oozing out of every street that changes into stairways. Its a place for... More

Old towns can sometimes be a disappointment. This was not. We caught the local free bus up to the top as it looks like a long steep walk. We wandered around cobbled streets, visited an atmospheric church and an interesting castle with great views before having a lovely outdoor lunch. Recommended.

This is a pretty old town area of Cagnes, with steep narrow roads leading to the Chateau at the top (which now houses a museum). This is worth a walk if you are in the area, but there are much more picturesque hilltop villages in the area only a short drive away with more to do, such as St Paul... More
