Home of the medieval castle of the Grimaldi family, this tiny village is an oasis of calm high above the Côte d'Azur. If it looks like an old Italian hill town, that is because it was until 1876.

Worth a visit when in Cagnes-sur-Mer. Walking up from the town is best. Although some very steep climbs mean that a slightly challenging ascent, also a local shuttle bus runs from centre of Cagnes-sue-Mer. Lots of narrow allow ayes with charming Provençal houses, wonderful views of mountains and sea at almost every turn. There is an art gallery within the... More

On the way to Vince or Grasse you can stop and visit this lovely place. They do have a free van that drops you all the way up.

Absolutely enchanting. All the little narrow streets, and I mean narrow. Park at the bottom and walk through and up. The square at the top with cafés and boule rinks. Wow

We visited Haut Cagnes on a very hot August day. We walked up, but the second time we visited we took the bus. There is so much to see: narrow cobbled streets, ancient stone houses, beautiful gardens and window boxes, unusual street names (all with named plaques), and a variety of eateries and places to rest the weary legs! We... More

We visited out of season in February and almost had this small, hilltop village to ourselves but imagine in the tourist season it would be packed and not much fun navigating round the narrow streets and alleys. Not over-hyped like some of the more well-known hill villages but with similar character, minus all the tourist shops. A lovely walk to... More

This place is set on a hill top where a castle should be and t did not disappoint! It's charm is beyond compare and is a very short and cheap train ride from Nice. The streets are so uncrowded.... actually for us in January there were barely any people there. Had a glorious lunch and view at a restaurant at... More

Good view from top of the hill. Nice ride with a free small tourist bus leaving from the center of Cagnes sur Mer. There's castle on the top has a museum, you can see even better from the tower. Inside some funny modern art.
