We used to own a villa less than a mile from this famous landmark. Never got closer to it than 50 metres when walking past but had the beauty of its rotating beam across the sky every night, viewed from our bedroom. It can be seen for miles.

You can't get in and you can't really get a good view of the lighthouse; what you can get is a nice view of the city and the coast, although there are trees blocking the view in most directions. It's quite a walk up there, especially if it's hot.

The best way to visit the lighthouse is on an open top tour bus, the trip takes in the famous Hotel Du Cap.

This is a nice little lighthouse that sits on a hill so it can be seen from far out at sea. It is unusual to me to see a little chapel tucked right up next to it, it was a cute little place.

We chose a day after a huge storm, and the air was clear, the skies were blue. We walked up through Bois de la Garoupe (about 30 minutes) and were delighted with the views from the chapel next to the lighthouse. It was the only day we saw the mountaintops, and they were covered in snow - in June!
