My wife and I contacted Mike in mid March and he was kind enough to book us on very short notice. He also recommended and excellent lodging in Tavel where he picked us up for our day of learning about wines and the Cote de Rhone. We found Mike to be very pleasant and well informed. We thoroughly enjoyed our... More

My Husband and I stayed in Arles where Mike picked us up at our hotel in the morning after a previously late night due to a fender bender. We were really looking forward to the tour but accidentally over slept. After telling Mike about our experience the night before and being obviously a little out of it, he graciously offered... More

Six of us (3 couples) spend 3+ hours driving around Chateauneuf-du-Pape with Mike Rijken (wine guide, interpreter, guest lecture on Rhone wines and owner of the WineSafari) in his comfortable van in late October. He speaks many languages fluently (Dutch, English, French, German) and we found him a personable fountain of interesting information not only about the wines of the... More

We had a wonderful tour with Mike covering Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Gigondas, going to small wineries. He is very knowledgeable about the geology, history and wine of the region. Plus, he drives so everyone can taste! (US folks: BAC limit in France is .05 not .08 as in the US). Our only disappointment wasn't with Mike but the inability to get... More

A usual wine tour includes a few sips of complimentary (or sometimes not) wine, often served by a person with little knowledge of the product. Mike of Wine Safari surpassed our typical wine tour expectations with flying couleurs. He is a former chef, hotel beverage manager, and a current educator at hotel schools in Switzerland, Germany, and Holland. His knowledge... More

We visited Châteauneuf-du-Pape with Mike and enjoyed it so much that we booked a second tour a few days later, this time to Gigondas. We were a group of 4 for the first and 6 for the second. This tour is much more than a typical "sit down, sample a few wines" tasting. Mike picked us up near St. Remy... More

I had a wine tour with Mike in late June. Wine Safari is not only wine tasting but also knowledge. He introduced the history, culture, weather and soil. I enjoyed the vineyard section very much. It’s a nice experience. Wine Safari is definitely better than other win tours.

In late May, my wife and another couple spent a day touring the countryside of Provence with Mike of Wine Safari. I found his name and tour company listed in Rick Steve's guidebook for Mediterranean cruises. Mike picked us up dockside in Marseille and drove us through the countryside of Provence in his very comfortable van. We visited several ancient... More

Mike's background in the hotel industry and as chef certainly adds to his expertise and passion for the wine safari. The four of us were picked up at the ship and driven through the French countryside and made a stop in a small village before heading to the wine tasting at Domaine de Tara near Roussillon. We learned about the... More

After several email exchanges and one phone call we finally booked Mike's wine safari. Although he is based out of Avignon, Mike offered to pick us up in St Remy de Provence where we were staying. We opted to meet him in Avignon to have the morning to explore the city, but we were impressed by the level of personal... More
