Anyone that travels on a cruise ship knows how difficult it is to get a tour unless you book well in advance. Mike emailed the day before our arrival and canceled our tour. I understand things happen, but since it was so last minute couldn't he have found us an alternative? Such a huge disappointment. Reading all these other reviews... More

We toured with Mike in June of 2013 with our two teenage daughters and enjoyed ourselves so much we decided to tour with him again in July 2015. Mikes knowledge of Provance, wine making, the wine business, agriculture and French politics is unparalleled. Since we had a longer day we decided to travel to chateau Neuf du pape this year... Found Wine Safari through Rick Steve's. Booked Mike Rijken for our first cruise stop in Marseille for a group of 9 on July 4. None of us had been in Provence and were excited for a wine tour of the region. Got off the ship promptly at 8:00 looking for a sign. We waited until 8:45 before borrowing a cell... More

My car broke down Friday evening late of 3rd july. Had to pick fam Olsen , early morning 4th of july in Marseile from cruise ship. by 8.00. Garages are closed, and so quick and early you cannot get a rental car. It was all odds against me. Include also the comment : Booked 3 months ahead...., same groupe..... I... More

Mike was a wonderful guide. There were only four of us on the tour and we all got to know each other and Provence. We toured lavender fields, vineyards, villages and wineries. We had wine tastings at both vineyards and I regret not bringing along a pad of paper to take notes.....Mike is so knowledgeable and friendly. It was the... More

I can't say enough good things about Mike and his Wine Safari. It started early in the morning, but he was right on time and proceeded to spend nearly 12 hours with me and my parents (not an easy feat). He took us all over Provence and knew something about everything. We went to two different vineyards and the owners... More

After being picked up at 8:00 am on the dot, Mike whisked us away to the hidden backroads of Cheauneuf du Pape and Gigondas. It was an absolutely delightful and educational day and I would *highly* suggest you book a tour with Mike. We tasted some amazing wines and learned an incredible amount about the politics and terroir of French... More

We are visiting Provence for our 25th anniversary and thoroughly enjoyed our wine tour with Mike. He knows so much about the area and wine, but is not stuffy or preachy. He is also not a salesperson for anything more than knowledge and experience. A day well spent!

I came across Mike while researching a Mediterranean cruise with friends. We decided to book a day tour while docked in Marseille, France. Mike was waiting for us right when we docked, and off we went, 5 wine lovers and their trusty guide! Mike has a passion for wine that is truly contagious! It made for a fantastic wine tasting... Yesterday we visited the Rhone Valley and we're lucky enough to have Mike as our guide. He wanted us to understand everything about the wine making process and from start to finish every moment was both interesting and fun! We now know so much more about wine and the wine making process we can't wait to go home and begin... More
