Mike was fantastic. To start he squeezed us in and picked us up at 6am because he had a previously booked couple we had to pick up in one of the hilltop towns an hour away. He came with pastries in hand. He was so informative about the area and his enthusiasm for wine was wonderful. If you love wine... More

My wife, daughter and I toured with Mike in early November 2015. It was a beautiful day and Mike's knowledge of the geology, the soil, grapes and the history of the french art of wine making is tremendous. He's got great relationships with local wine makers and we tasted excellent wines all day. Our time with Mike was one of... More

Mike picked us up at our b&b which was out of town and not easy to find. We started the day with a view of the old pope chateau and a description of the different grapes used in this area. We enjoyed two great tastings along with driving and walking through the various vineyards. We learned a great deal about... More

Mike picked 8 of us up right on time from our Viking ship in Avignon. We first visited the summer castle of the Pope and saw beautiful scenery. Mike had lots of information to share regarding the grapes and the vineyards we saw and visited. We then had a tasting at a small family run winery - Domaine Durieu. Excellent... More

We contacted Mike Rijken after deciding we wanted to tour the Luberon area while staying in Isle-de-la-Sourgue. He provided an outstanding tour, which included a thousand year old Abbey, Rousillon and other nearby villages and a couple of wineries. They were also enjoyable, although wine tasting was not our primary reason for touring this area. He was very knowledgeable on... More

We spent a full day learning all about the Cotes du Rhone wines, and it was fascinating. Michael is thoroughly knowledgeable about all aspects from the different types of soil, grapes, and environments, to the manner in which the different wines are aged. We visited three different wineries and tasted an amazing number of wines of every color available. We... More

I thought that this was a bit pricey until about ten minutes into the comfortable ride toward the vineyard. Mike gave us an excellent history which included how and why wines came to the Rhone Valley, how and why the area was developed and the history of the two Popes including an extra stop. He defined the grapes and their... More

We have gone on wine tours throughout the USA and Europe, Wine Safari with Mike is by far the best tour we have taken yet. Mike is extremely knowledgeable about all wine and answered all our questions. His tour provided historically information as well as local and current facts on the vineyards. We were so happy with his tour that... More

Michael Rijken, the owner of Winesafari, gave us the highlight day of our 2 week France trip. We toured the Rhone Wine Region. He offered us a 100% wine tour, or would we like to also visit some sights and learn some regional history. We chose the second option. Regarding wine, we have had many wine tours, and his was... Anyone that travels on a cruise ship knows how difficult it is to get a tour unless you book well in advance. Mike emailed the day before our arrival and canceled our tour. I understand things happen, but since it was so last minute couldn't he have found us an alternative? Such a huge disappointment. Reading all these other reviews... More
