Looks just like the famous picture

We ate lunch around the corner and stumbled upon the Espace Van Gogh by accident which was a delightful surprise. Looks just like the famous picture he painted. What a delight!

Espace is a very nice facility and they do have some (20ish) Van Gogh sketches, not paintings. The visit starts out with a display by another modern artist they say was inspired by Van Gogh. There is a terrasse on the roof with a great view of the rooftops.

Nice little square. Comfortable and pretty. To get the most out of your visit, see Arles with a tour guide. Its interesting to get some of the stories of Van Gogh's year in Provence. Interesting, sad, and maddening. Arles is a wonderful town with pretty squares. Some shops. The "Starry Night" restaurant square is pretty. Go and take it in.

If you want to buy Van Gogh tourist items or look at a small but nice garden, this is a good place to go. We did not do much else there. I do like the practice of showing a Van Gogh painting replica next to the actual place.

This city has much to offer in the way of roman remains, but the main features for me were the interesting areas relating to Van Gogh the streets with the Yellow Café and this place , the hospital where he spent so much time in despair, we now know his condition was Bi-Polar, but his presence is almost tangible, and... This former hospital was where Vincent Van Gogh was treated after cutting off his own left ear lobe in 1888. The French-style courtyard has been restored to match one of Van Gogh’s paintings, Le Jardin de la Maison de Santé. The building now houses the town’s archives, media library, bookshops and art galleries. It is a small place but not... More

of the garden in spring makes it easy to feel Van Gogh in this space. If Van Gogh is a favorite of yours, then you will feel fortunate to spend special time here.

For me, a professional photographer who is in galleries, this was very moving. To be able to see what Van Gogh saw what he painted and be in his space heightens the impact of his painting. Thank god the people at the asylum encouraged and allowed his painting. It kept him alive. There is now controversy over his death. He... More

This was a great little place to visit. I'm not a massive art buff but I found this really interesting. Its definitely worth a look whether your into art or not.
