It was in a letter to his sister that Vincent described the garden, now re-created here. Nice to see, would be better if there were benches.

We visited Espace Van Gogh as part of Uniworld river cruise excursion, along with other excursions from other river cruise ships. The story of Van Gogh in Arles is every present, and is what Arles is all about....although one should not forget the great influence of the Romans. Primarily the walk about of Arles is to point out the locations... More

The garden is lovely, despite the many Van Gogh souvenir shops surrounding it. It was much smaller than I expected from looking at photos.

Four stars because it is a quiet refuge tucked away from busy streets. I visited in September and it was not busy inside, quite quiet and cool. Souvenir shops are much much the same as everywhere here, nothing special. It is worthwhile if interested in Van Gogh just to see where he was and remember what inspired his work.

We spent ages trying to find this old hospital where Van Gogh spent time - the garden was pretty but really not a patch on the gorgeous hospital at St Remy .

Like other places in town where Van Gogh painted, it is easy to stand at the gardens here and visualize him painting. It is worth stopping here, if only for that.

To stand in this space, to hear the stories about Van Gogh's evolution to using blue and yellow, and how he then turned the stars into flowers in the sky. How he rented a yellow house (which was destroyed during the war), and painted sunflowers all over the guest room walls, and saw yellow buildings because of the glow of... More

The places was not as easy to find as some of the other Van Gogh sites along the trail in Arles. We had the Van Gogh map and it still wasn't easy to find, but worth the search. The interior gardens are pretty, there is a fountain and what is there today is very much the Van Gogh painting. There... More
