I love hiking and this place is one of my favourite. Surroundings is beautiful and it reminds you of painter Cezanne of course! However I wouldn't recommend hiking in July or August as the weather can be atrociously hot!

We knew we wanted to hike this area but unfortunately did not do enough research to determine the best place to start. We started at a place that led us on a beautiful hike but it was pretty strenuous and we never made it to the top. We made it pretty high though and had some amazing views on a... More

Lovely hike. You should check beforehand whether the mountain is open to hikers or not, during summer it is often closed to prevent fires.

If you stay in Marseille or Aix-en-Provence or elsewhere in Bouches-du-Rhône - visit this place and it will stay in your memory. I have been in many places in South of France and this one is top rated for me. Expected reward for those who reach Cross on top, old monastery with chapel and hut where you can rest, have... More

Everyone recommends climbing, as do I, but there is very little information on how to do it. Here is what I recommend: 1. Take the 110 bus from Aix-en-Provence. You buy the ticket on the bus (2euros round trip). You can get on either at the bus station (platform 21 which is actually out of the bus station, past platform... More

We were there in December, and it was perfect weather, so you can probably say its pretty good all year around. Many trails of varying levels, well marked but bring own supplies and a camera. Great views to be had. Buses can move you back and around to where you started if that is an issue. What am I saying....outstanding... More

We went there for a stroll and trail run. Excellent path to run on and the terrain gets rougher once off the beaten track. Do not underestimate the distance and take water as the entire hill is exposed. Views are super and worth the climb.

Famous for the many views painted by Paul Cezanne. Lovely circular tour that takes about 3 hours. Pretty villages. Getting out and back into Aix can be problematic - many roads are one-way. A Satnav is useful.
