Sainte Victoire is worth every drop of sweat it takes to get to the top. I will get the best view of Provence possible. It takes roughly 2 hours to get up to the monastery and another 15 minutes all the way to the cross. If you stay in Aix, you can take bus L140. It takes extra 25 minutes... More

Really deserves one day of your trip. Plan in advance in order to know exactly where to go because it's not always clear how to reach the parking spots and the road signs are not exactly helpful. But it's really beautiful and the trails are well kept.

I sugget to buy an IGN MAP and follow paths around the St Victoire. Mountain biking is great, take care as summer imposes restricted hours whrn the win is blowing. Best is early in the morning.

I will start by explaining how I got to the Mountain from Aix en Provence as that is what caused me the most difficulty. I took the L140 bus from Gate 4 at the bus depot which is located about 5 minutes away from the Tourist Information Centre. I travelled on a Sunday and there was only 1 bus per... More

If you have time and energy and like the great outdoors, spend a day hiking Sainte Victoire, It took us about 2-3 hours each way. The hardest part was getting out there, we took a bus from la Rotunde in Aix (more info at tourist office) and it only runs every 2 hours at times. There is a monastery at... More

The views alone are well worth the trek up the mountain! It's not a leisurely stroll, so make sure you're prepared and wearing sensible stuff! Not the tiny thin ballet pumps I saw one girl wearing! It's definitely a must-do for anyone visiting Aix!

Soaring behind Aix-en-Provence is the mountain made famous by Cezanne, Picasso, Granet, and many, many more artists. It's limestone south façade changes by the day or hour. There are many walks and tours around and on the mountain, and it extends eastward towards many other small town around it. This is a MUST SEE in Provence and France.

Mont Sainte Victoire punctuates the drive along A8/E80 from Nice to Aix, and lies just a few km due east of Aix. Many secondary roads allow you to see it close and in all orientations. MSV is like a lovely model who can convey many moods and personalities depending upon hair, makeup, and attire. Based on cloudcover, weather, and the... More

Love this mountain! Views from all over are spectacular! Lose yourself in a long hike, you won't regret it! One Major Thing To Be Aware Of: NEVER EVER leave one single item in your car rental when you leave the car for a hike or to take pictures. There are some people who come to the Mountain stops knowing visitors... More
