We had a wonderful drive around the gorges, roads are alright, better than I expected, a bit cliffhanger in one occasion or two, a little bit windey roads but it was exciting. The views are breathtaking, nice little town you can stop in between for a coffee or cold drink. You would have to spend the day to appreciate this... More

We were really excited to visit the Gorges du Verdon but somehow we ended up leaving a bit disappointed. I guess we were expecting a real "Grand Canyon" of sorts, and it's beautiful, but it's nothing like the real Grand Canyon. Yes, there are some great views, and it's wonderful for those who love nature and nature parks. I would... More

You know that huge amazing state of mind when you have no breath and all the same feel you're part of something mastered perfectly as the Universe around you ? Feeling small and crushed by the beauty and artristry of Mother Nature ? Oh well, that is the feeling you get in the pure core of Parc Naturel Regional Du... More

We were a bit anxious about the drive and had images of our car hurtling off the road ... The roads were much better than expected and wider than many French roads. May is a good time to go before it gets too busy. With two teenagers, there was enough variety and interesting stops to keep them from groaning the... More

My parents live not too far from here so I go all the time and it never fails to amaze me. Lots of wonderful villages to explore and some truly spectacular drives. Well worth a visit as there are lots of activities for all tastes.

We drove round the gorges enoying the scenery and taking pictures. We also walked through an adventure path (about 3 hours) close to Palud On Verdon where you zip line, abseil and climb up and down rocks in the gorge. Spectacular views, but you must have the stomach for heights...... And there are several cafes and bars in the area... More

Very spectacular river canyon with an abundance of possibilities for activities. Like most attractions in europe best visited in early or late season. Can be crowded in summer.

We were late getting going in the morning and ended up at the gorges around noon. Not enough time to explore the entire canyon before lunch so we drive to the top of the gorges and stopped at a couple of lookout points and took about an hour checking it out - stunning!! On the way back we stopped in... More

The scenery in the Gorges du Verdon is really worth the voyage. It is the deepest canyon in Europe. The Verdon river has eroded its way down into the limestone and made a 700 metres deep canyon over a distance of about 25 km. One can experience this scenery in several ways: By car, motorbike, bicycle, rafting, canyoning and by... More

This gorge really does live up to the hype, the views are stunning and the roads are so much fun to drive on. I can't recommend going to see this enough I had some much fun. To help you find it put Castellane into your sat nav and then follow the signs to the gorge. There is a loop to... More
