My husband and I, 2 adult daughters, and their boyfriends drove to see the Gorges du Verdon. We stayed in the charming village Moustiers-Ste-Marie and from there drove past the Lac de Ste-Croix and took the north bank road. At Palud-sur-Verdon we took the Route des Cretes that circled around then we drove back to Moustiers the way we came.... More

Amazing hiking trails here, good for a whole day of walking. Be prepared for sometimes dangerous routes, watch out for loose rocks! and definitely bring enough water. The view is just astonishing.

The area between Castellane and Lac du St. Croix is a fantastic area for hiking. There are several prepared paths available for hiking. The difficulty of the paths are various. Some are quite steep and rather dangerous if the weather is bad. Others are more safe. It is recommended to obtain good information before hiking one of the longer paths.... More

My wife does not like mountain roads so we did not go on any of the gorge drives. Other reviews on these pages put her off! Instead we drove to the lake and hired a pedalos. The drive is relatively easy, without the twisting hairpins that others describe. We have two young children and they loved pedalling into the gorge.... More

I've been a few times to the gorge and have thoroughly enjoyed it each time. A great spot for a hike, the scenery is almost Martian. I highly recommend walking through the Couloir Samson and also checking out Point Sublime.

The Gorges du Verdon is continental Europes largest canyon with steep vertical limestone cliffs with heights up to 600-700 meters. It is easily accessible from Nice or Cannes by car and a drive through takes a couple of hours depending on how many stops one makes. It is also possible to hike or climb for those so inclined. There are... More

Having spent a couple of days in this spectacular area over the summer and it was one of the most beautiful places I have ever been, although the roads can get a little scary

If you are in the region and have some free time. Great views, and a fun drive. Take your time, and let people pass who want to go faster. Took us 3 hours for the entire drive, including stops for pictures. Pack some snacks if you go off season, as a lot of the road side stops are closed.

Excellent canyon for short hike. One can go through it in ca 6 hours. The hike cound be a great aventure, it contains steep slopes, great bath in fresh water (in the summer), great views troughout the whole journey and a small dark cave to go through at the end of the hike. Memorable experience. Was there in the summer... More
