Great Views quaint little town. The drive is very long and winding it was rather overcast when we visited so I imagine it would be far more impressive on a clear sunny day.

Spent a full day in the Gorges, coming from Annecy on the way to Cannes. Really great scenery and tons of things you can do. Did the Sentier Martel hike in the morning (separate review for that). We then drove the "north rim", from east to west, direction Moustiers St Marie. We took route de crete, fabulous views, we were... More

If we had more time, we would have enjoyed the lake and amenities there, but we were mainly here for a driving trip. We came up from St-Maxime through a very pretty and winding, narrow drive past Comps-sur-Artuby and Trigance. If you make that drive, be careful going around turns because cars, trucks, and buses going the other way don't... More

during our trip to southern france we hired a car to drive around the gorge du verdon after seeing pictures on a magasine a while ago, the rivers were so refreshing and clean, but a lot of tourists at this time of the year, i wouldn't recommend to go in August.

The title is just my personal definition of 5 in the Tripadvisor's score. The place deserves it fully and not only for the umpteenth possibility of enjoying landscape and nature but also for the towns in the neighbors (e.g. Moustiers St. Marie, Valensole). Early June during lavender's blooming would be the best time to visit the area.

We travelled all the way from Antibes which took two hours but it was well worth the trip! Definitely recommend hiring a pedalo from the lake where you can go up the gorge - the views are incredible with the emerald water and you could literally be anywhere in the world. A nice change from the hustle and bustle of... More

Absolutely a must do. We rented a 4-p canoe at the lake and visited the Gorges. We left at 9.30 am. At that time it was still very quiet on the water. Around 11.30 however it was REALLY crowded on the water. Try to leave as early as possible for the best experience.

Arrived around 11:00 and there was a big queue at the boat rental. An hour later we was in the front of the queue and ordered the boats. Waited another 1:30 for the boats. We spent most of the waiting time under the trees by the ice-kiosk. Thanks to this the waiting time was survivable. When we finally entered the... More

Really recommend white water rafting on the Gorges du Verdon-just right for the novice-thrilling/gentle/not too scary but a little bit of a thrill We saw giant vultures, beautiful scenery, floated down the river after jumping in- refreshing and fun also pretty good value-about 30-35 euros for a three hour excursion

Worth spending several days in the area to a) drive around both sides of the canyon and absorb the spectacular and breathtaking views (2 days), b) hike the 14 km Sentier Blanc-Martel starting in Chalet de la Maline and ending in Point Sublime, c) do some canyoning or bungee - and don't forget to enjoy the french way of living......
