Beautiful paintings

A fairly austere building in the process of being renovated on the exterior but once inside some of the most beautiful religious paintings I have seen, quite moving.

the cathedral itself is very grand, not so impressive and under restauration. However, on the back side through the side entrance there is the most charming chapel inside the cathedral, La Chapelle de la Vierge. Sitting there and just enjoying the orace of the moment is a delight. Worth the visit.

We found the Cathedrale St-Louis to about average. Not worth more than a few minutes. The outside has major work going on. The interior has been done.

The exterior of this huge chunk of a building belies the beautiful interior. With vibrant stained glass windows and imposing paintings and ceilings, it is worth taking a look. Pay a few coins for a leaflet if you don't read French fluently (and it helps alleviate the guilt of looking around for free) - avoid falling into the trap that... More

This is not a Medieval Cathedral: open, airy and bright. It's understandable how it could help people transcend to the Divine.

Be sure to stop by and light a candle in memory of loved ones. Beautiful Cathederal with many great pieces of art throughout.

Located in the heart of the old port of La Rochelle, St. Louis Cathedrale is worth a visit. Beautiful stained glass and some information of the Knights Templar.

While plain on the outside it has its masterpeices on the inside. The painted ceilings in the side chapels are superb as is the stone carving. Well worth a visit with excellent explanatory panels dotted around (all in French admittedly, but hey, you're in France - what do you expect?).

Nice church but the shipwreck painting and other seagoing artifacts are wonderful and not like anything we had ever seen
