I went alone as my husband thought it would be full of children & he wouldn't see much. It was busy but not too much & there was plenty of space & time to really see the exhibits. Fantastic start as you apparently go under water & it was set out beautifully. Staff extremely professional & helpful. I took masses... More

We went with our 18 month old son who loved the Aquariam. Adult tickets were 16 euros and our son was free. Although we had a little problem with our prebooked tickets (in that they didn't appear to exist) the staff were helpful in sorting it out for us. We spent about 2 hours walking around the various rooms and... More

On a rainy Saturday, all of La Rochelle and its visitors seem to head for the Aquarium. the actual experience is very good with plenty of explanatory signs etc - but avoid at the weekends if you can

A great place for all ages to learn and enjoy. The video showed a young boy asking questions . We could follow the building process, the collection of specimens at sea where the same young boy was involved, feeding etc. Children were immediately Interested because another child was involved. The collection of jelly fish was amazing. The big areas where... More

The aquarium is the best I have ever seen anywhere and I have seen loads including big ones in Australia. It is just so cleverly arranged and so varied and inventive. Superb! Don't miss it. In my opinion it is better even than the harbour entrance towers as an attraction. All aquariums should be like this. Expensive at 16 euros,... More

It is so imaginatively presented - it's not just a load of fish swimming around. I learnt a lot. Information is provided in French and English. It is a bit pricey at €32 for two but I did not resent that as I thoroughly enjoy myself.

This Aquarium is conparable to the one in Boston MA and Monterey CA, just on a little bit smaller scale. Beautiful exhibits of coral reefs, but what is more important is, that all is very well explained in plain French and good English. Here we found a great exhibit about the tidal forces, how they work. Of course, on a... More

Bearing in mind that this was mid-week and out of the main holiday season, this place was absolutely rammed with people, uncomfortably busy. Hard to see most of the exhibits for the sheer numbers of people and screaming kids. Whilst it is supposedly one of the biggest aquariums in Europe, it's worth bearing in mind that if you're used to... More

Quite the best aquarium I have see in a long time. So many species to see that aren't normally seen in most aquariums. Good value for money. Well worth a visit.

After deciding to visit La Rochelle and making a 90 minute train ride each way to do so, the first place we headed for was the Aquarium. We had seen some menu's outside so after about 40 minutes decided to go upstairs to the restaurant, on arrival we realised this was not the place that sold the food we had... More

Dear theneen22, We truly regret that you didn’t keep a good memory of your visit at the Aquarium La Rochelle. It is specified in English on our leaflet, on the video wall above the reception, and on the doors at the end of the visit that any exit from the exhibition is definitive. That’s why we advise our visitors to... More
