The New World Museum is located within an historic property. It tells the story of exploration and exploitation of the Americas. It contains sections on slavery, first nation culture, French colonial culture and contemporary displays. Sensitively handled and well worth a visit.

We visited after hearing so many rave reviews about this museum. It is far smaller than expected, and many of the exhibits are works of art, rather than artefacts. We were especially not impressed with the Barack Obama exhibit, which seemed quite out of place. Would we visit again?- no, although we can see that so many have enjoyed it... More

Yes, this museum is small and not too big - but they pack a lot of history of the Americas into this place. I have visited twice (bringing visiting family the 2nd time) and both times I was impressed with their exhibits and presentation. The audio guide they have is also very helpful. The best thing about this museum it's... More

I thought they would have more about France trips to the Nouvelle France in Canada but this museum is more about all voyages to places France went to. Not what I had expected but interesting enough. It only took me 30 minutes to see everything.

So I wasn't expecting very much from this museum, but went because I was in town for too many days and it was just down the street from my hotel, but I got more than I bargained for. They offer a truly unique perspective on America, its indigenous peoples and the slave trade. I simply wasn't prepared for such great... More

I was quite interested in this museum because I grew up in Canada so I was interested in the French perspective, having learned Canadian history in high school. I found some of the rooms fascinating, like the story of the gold rush, or the depiction of America through art. But only some of the rooms had English translation sheets so... More

This museum has an interesting exhibition covering the early settling of America and Canada, from slavery to the disputes between the French and British over territory. Fascinating early maps and engravings. It made me realise this whole topic is ignored in British schools who focus only on Europe. There was also a great series of photos on early Indian life...
