I stayed in Feb for business, one of the coldest months, but my room with its historic charm and the friendly staff made my short stay an enjoyable experience. Would stay at this hotel in a heartbeat, preferably in a warmer month. My view of the port was spectacular.

The Vieux Port of La Rochelle is really beautiful. When the weather is nice, grab an ice cream and head for a walk around the bay - plenty of restaurants and parks nearby.

The best part of the town in my opinion take time to absorb the views, have a drink and something to eat .plenty of sandwich stalls for an inexpensive lunch

The best way to enjoy this is to wander about and around, across harbour bridges, along ramparts, along by the al fresco cafes and seafood restaurants, and through the town's narrow streets - and keep your camera handy.

What a pretty place to spend the afternoon! We strolled along the cobblestone streets, peeked at the menu's at the outside cafes looking forward to lunch, and enjoyed the ocean views from along the old fort walls. Its so nice to hear the sounds of the sailboat rigging clanging in the wind with the sea breeze blowing past. So relaxing... More

We spent a glorious November Sunday afternoon strolling around, lots of locals enjoying the autumn sunshine too, can imagine it would be pretty busy during the 'season'

The port itself is more for pleasure these days although its former working life is clear. The streets are narrow and quaint with lots of cafes and restaurants.

A lovely historical port. Beautiful harbour and a selection of souvenir shops intermingled with bistros, restaurants and cafes all facing onto the harbour. Very attractive town with charm and sophistication and even more beautiful on a lovely sunny day. Visited for a few hours and enjoyed walking around the harbour, crossing over the bridge and along the other side of... More

Laced with people running around and boats docked at the port this attraction is unique from all points of view. With the cafés that offer you great gelatos are just a caffe latte to enjoy in the afternoon, La Rochelle's old port is a definite must when visiting Charente Maritime.
