Being in Cognac ,wanted to visit a producer. Excellent tour of what is part of the old fort. The guide spoke in French (the English tour was in the afternoon) but took the trouble to give our party of four a potted account in English from time to time. Very thoughtful.

The distillery is on the site of the Castle of Cognac so the tour is different than the other distilleries in that it includes a guided tour of parts of the castle. The tours are all timed so recommend that you go to the tourist office and book ahead , the tourist office know the times of the tours in... More

On our tour of the French Atlantic coast, we visited the home of the internationally-renowned cognac, described by Victor Hugo as "the drink of the Gods". This little unassuming town has a population of about 20,000. The landscape is charming and hilly, meadows and vineyards stretch as far as the eye can see. Cognac was invented 300 years ago by... I've taken visitors to this tour twice. Both guides were very friendly and had lots of great stories to tell. The great thing about this tour is that as well as touring the distillery, and finding out how cognac is made, the chateau itself is beautiful and completely fascinating. Highly recommended!

we were lucky enough to be the only ones on the 10:30 english tour, so we essentially had a private tour! Francois was a great tour guide - patient with all our questions, and detailed with his explanations about both the chateau and cognac distillation.i also loved touring and learning about the history of the chateau itself, which was an... This is one of the best tours of a cognac house. The castle is the birthplace of Francois I, (France's answer to Henry VIII). It was a prison for Irish and English soldiers at the end of the 18th century and is really fascinating. The second part of the tour focuses on the taste and production methods for cognac. The... You get to visit the old chateau where François1 was born, as well as the chais where Otard cognac is made and stored. We had a tour in French, but with a written English guide to help. Interesting to take the alcohol test after the tasting!!

I would highly recommend this visit. It costs €10 which included an hour visit and tasting. The tour is in English and other languages. Unlike other distilleries this had a tour of the chateau and gave you plenty of time to look around. The guide was very good, her English excellent and was helpful if you had questions. At the... Very good place, but it is too famous - very expensive tasting with comparing to other cognac houses. The caste is very impressive and has good story. It need to be visited for history knowledge.

We booked a tour with a French group but were offered a printed English translation and the guide asked us many times if we understood the story. Otard offers a slice of history with it's tasting and the tour is informative. We opted to upgrade to the 20 € tour and were happy to enjoy an older and richer blend.... More
