A motley collection of artefacts which do not really reflect the life of the town which must be one of the most neglected historic sites I have ever seen... very sad

We were in Laon on a rainy day so decided to go to the museum. For a small town, this was an all encompassing museum. Natural history, sculpture, paintings, furniture, etc. Unfortunately when we were in Laon, the Templar Chapel was under renovation, so we were unable to go inside. It is remarkably intact. Learn about the sad undoing of the Knights of Templar and enjoy a far more extensive collection of antiquities than one would anticipate. Some very interesting Flemish works as well. If it's raining in Laon, a good choice for spending some informative moments inside.

... not a lot of local artifacts. There is however, a delightful Templars chapel in the grounds that is worth a look as there are few about in this condition.

Not so far from the Laon cathedral lies one of the few Templar chapels in Europe, in the garden of the museum. For those who fancy the saga of the Knights Templars is a must see. The chapel belongs to the 12th century. The museum is a nice surprise, with very good collections of sculpture and painting.
