We visited with our 5 year old daughter as we had been given free entry tickets. We were given our electronic guide and after an initial introduction left to walk through their caves at our pace. The technology of the guide and then ability to touch what was being talked about kept her interested. Then just when that gets boring... More

Our young family really enjoyed the tour of the caves - tho make sure you pick up the audio guide. The kids especially enjoyed the art and games area at the end. We really enjoyed the excellent sparkling wine that we bought afterwards ;-) IMO the best out of all the producers in the area!

There is no guided tour, but you can have an audio guide to explain the history of the brand and the production process of the sparkling wines produced by Ackerman, while you walk through the caves. The caves appear to be merely a "museum", actual production and storage is done in an Industry Zone close-by (as we discovered the day... More

So we had to cancel our plans to go elsewhere and we had a spare afternoon. We like art. We like wine. The Ackerman visit is three euros and we only went because we were passing the door. We expected the usual, bland, informative, corporate tour followed by a chance to buy some wine. We were right and we were... More

We had hoped to see some wine production here but it has all moved out now,so it was disappointing. There is some art work and fantasy land stuff which just smacks of, "oh dear, we have a hole to fill, what shall we put it it and charge to see it", not my cup of tea, but tastings were good, satff... Hello and thank you for you message. We don't hide that the site people can visit is not the current production site, which is now 10 kms from Saumur. That's the reason why we can propose Art in the Caves and we work with local, professional artists who create their works of arts in situ to highlight our Caves. We... More

We planned on visiting the Ackerman cave however we were given free tickets when we purchased wine at the chateau of Saumur. The tour around the cave was slightly underwhelming and not much fun for the young kids. What surprised us afterwards was the endless supply of wines (and fizz) to taste (although no fun if you're driving) and good... More

Excellent visit, good history of the Ackerman family, good story of the production and a lovely trip through the caves with an "arty", nothing to do with wine, Jules Verne "twist" !!! Very different and HIGHLY recommended. The staff were delightful and more than helpful. Only 5 minutes from the "Cadre Noir" so an easy double trip !! Also, go... More

This is now a corporate AV tour with lots of bizarre collection of modern art in the caves. There is no production there anymore and it lacks any form of atmosphere.

Thank you for your message on Trip Advisor. It is true that visitors don't see the current production site which is 10kms from Saumur but we wanted, thus, to suggest something different with Art and Games. Of course we also explain the Traditional Method during the Tour and especially the wine tasting. We do not hide it and people can... More

The trip through the caves was interesting but found the staff a little unhelpful really. We did the tour with the audio, but have to say this was quite unnecessary. Tasting at the end was ok and we did buy some of their different and v tasty wines but it could all have been a little more friendly & staff... More

Hi Steve W, and thank you for your message. We are happy to learn that the track has pleased to you ; it is true that the audioguides give just a few more information than the boards, it depends then if people prefer listening than reading. They will be improved for the next season. Nevertheless, there is always a commented... More

It must be a challenge for producers attracting visits to their caves / shop-front which caters for both the first-time visitor with no prior knowledge of sparkling wine production and the seasoned wine tourist who has heard it all before. Being from the latter, I think they manage this pretty well here and Ackerman has made good use of their... More
