I am not a great lover of horses, but thoroughly enjoyed our tour of the School, the guide was enthusiastic and very knoweldgeable. We did our guided tour in the monring and got to see some of Cadre Noir practising. We then went bakc in the evening to see the show. I would recommend to anyone, english translation was a... More

Whether you love horses or not-this is very interesting and educational for all-the guided tour in English is very informative-the facilities they have are amazing-watching the riders train their horses in the morning is a privelidge-if you get the chance to see an evening performance-definitely go-the one in October to music is truly fabulous!!

We actually ended up going to the military equestrian school which is closer into town near the castle. The Cadre Noir is a little outside of Saumur just past the Veuve Amiot wine cellars. We took the one hour guided tour in English and were able to get a good impression of the school and its large facility. The men... More

Not being a mad keen horsey person we've not to date bothered with the Cadre Noir but when we have visiting family who are mad keen horsey people- well, it just had to be done! We had the ' cheap seats', 25 euros a head if bought as a family package but the view was not compromised at all, even... More

Have visited on numerous occasions to take the official, very interesting, tour of the Cadre Noir stables etc. and also enjoyed many of the numerous competitions held annually in particular the carriage driving (attelage) and dressage events which are usually by British competitors

Rendezvous Vous is the black mare ridden by the Ecuyer en Chef or chief instructor. We met her on our informative tour of the school and stables ( thank you Priscilla) and then saw her the next day in a fabulous display of horsemanship, including vaulting, jumping, long reining and dressage. Worth a special visit don't miss this fabulous experience... More

We went with our 10 and 8 year old children for the 1 hour show. The horses were in amazing condition and the show demonstrated various aspects of the institute - from the military to the gymnastic. While there was an English translator for some aspects we felt the kids missed out on the section describing how they trained the... More

Where does one begin? I have never seen horses in such fine condition and to view their stables, see their training grounds was a pleasure. Next you see them training, the dressage ring(s), the performance arena, or just hacking in the magnificent grounds. Watch them perform in displays and International performances, or see them perform on the cross-country competitions with... More
