I have been here several times before with family & friends. We choose this one because it is the only one in the centre of Saumur with wholly underground caves. Even so, this visit didn't disappoint - it was presented mainly in English (my friends are actually French but their English is very good because they live in UK). They... More

We had to wait about 30 mins for a tour but it was well worth the wait. Our guide who spoke excellent english took time to not only give her presentation but to interact with us as well and we thoroughly enjoyed our tour which outshone other caves we had visited which had given a below average guide or overly... Even though we were the only two people who turned up for a tour, we were treated like royalty and looked after very well by our young guide who spoke very good English. It was pointed out that if tha party had been predominantly French, then French would have been used for the tour, but I'm sure they wouldn't let... More

This was exceptional, the tour of the underground caverns with history interspersed with the process of making sparkling wines was informative and very interesting. Dedicated English tours available. Free wine tasting at the end and we've not been able to leave without a box of two every time we've visited!

Brilliant tour with a very enthusiastic and knowledgeable young lady ( even for those of us non wine enthusiasts) she made the history of the caves interesting enough for adults and our grandchildren age 6 and 8. She enquired at the start of the tour if English was ok for everyone a nice touch and her spoken English is outstanding.... More

we were spoilt for choice for wine tasting but decided on this one as they did an unusual red sparking wine. We were one of 2 couples on our tour & the young tour girl spoke excellent English & was very informative. We tasted several different types of wine & came away with 3 boxes including the red sparkling one.... More

We had a really interesting tour by an enthusiastic young lady who was very knowledgeable and spoke excellent English as well as French. We had a wine tasting after the tour and bought home some bottles! Free entrance if you stay at Castles, domaine le Breche campsite.

Visited on a rainy day and were the only people on the tour. The girl who took us round the caves was excellent, very friendly and helpful. Tasting was interesting too and we ended up buying totally different wines to the ones we planned. The "Cremant fizz" is excellent - especially the red.

We missed the tour, but the girls in the shop were really good about letting us taste anyway and told us all about how the sparkling wines are made. Had a really interesting half hour and came away with a case of very good value (& tasting) bubbles! We are normally red drinkers and so tasting so much fizz was... More

I did like the wines here and the tour in the cave. I recommend that you stop here for a bit there was no charge for the tasting/tour. Dress warmly as it was very cold in the caves. We bought 2 bottles of sparkling wine to bring with us on our trip.
