When we were visiting the chateaus we also tried to stroll through the town as well. The chateau is okay. Very impressive on the outside. They did have some nicely furnished rooms. The views of the city were great. I would definitely try to visit the city if you come here and the cathedral which is located outside the chateau... More

OK. To be honest, at this point in our trip I was well into castle/chateau/cathedral overload, so please take this with a grain of salt. If architecture, history and art are your passion, ALL of these places (there are many around France) will feed your soul. If on the other hand you have more of a passing appreciating for such... The Château de Blois was impressive to look upon. In 1429, Joan of Arc came here to be blessed by the Archbishop before departing with her army. It was also the home of several French kings such as François I and French queens like Catherine de Medici. The architecture was, of course, both beautiful and daunting, while the interior design... We went to the Son et Lumiere (sound and light ) show which starts at 10.30 and it was well worth it. Excellent depiction of the murder and mayhem at the palace during the time of the Royals. Beware: it is standing only.

castle is nice, but similar to others in the Loire valley. What is specific is its location in the town centre. very close to river, views from castle to the other side of river. the town under the castle is small, cozy with lots of bars and restaurants and bakeries.

The residence of 7 kings and 10 queens. You can see the furnished royal apartments of Louis XII complete with Renaissance paintings and art objects. The audio guide details the daily life at court. It also explains the historical events during the Religious Wars. We went to the Sound and Light show but unfortunately not on Wednesday, the English version... More

We visited 5 castles during our Loire tour and I liked Blois the least. First of all, the audio guide in this castle is horrible and I suggest to noone to buy it. I thought a dramatized version of an audio guide would be something that would set it apart from other audio guides, but it makes the entire visit... More

On our last trip to the Loire, we arrived at the Cheateau de Blois too late for the normal visit. However, it was a Wednesday and Wednesday night is English translation night for the Son et Lumiere - a sound and light show projected onto the walls of interior courtyard of the Chateau! Stunning visuals and wonderfully informative & evocative... More

To everybody who plan visit Chateau de Blois and others near by, you should pick up train at Gare Austerliz at 7-38, in Paris. Because bus which brings passengers to 3 near by castles from Blois leaves at 9-30 and 11-30 approximately, and return back to Blois about 4 times per day, except Sunday, on Sunday bus service didn't work.... Blois is set on the River Loire and even in the rain we managed to have a pleasant day out and took plenty of photos of the cobbled town roads. There are many shops and restaurants, and the Chateau! If you have Children, get them to follow the little signs that are on the streets! Do make sure you see... More
