This gothic and renaissance chateau has had a very rich history being a royal resident of many French Kings and had many other historical figures associated with it - the most famous amongst them being Joan of Arc who went here to be blessed by the Archbishop of Reims before heading off with her troops to drive the English from... Maybe because i'm more of a fan of the ornate chateaus, but i found this one to be unimpressive. The exterior is nice, but the interior is quite sparse and small.

It has 3 different styles of architecture and has a extremely interesting history. The furnishings are quite nice with an abundance of paintings to admire. It may take a couple hours to fully appreciate what this chateau has to offer.

This has to be one of the best chateaux I have visited to date. Firstly the entrance fee is reasonable but once you have toured the site you will come away thinking you have had an excellent experience for the price. As you wander through the rooms you will feel like you are actually back there in time as everything... More

Not a big castle compare to most of the valley de la Loire castles but very interesting as it is quite different With its 4 different styles in 1. I recommend to take the guide tour for 1 hour and no extra charges

When we were visiting the chateaus we also tried to stroll through the town as well. The chateau is okay. Very impressive on the outside. They did have some nicely furnished rooms. The views of the city were great. I would definitely try to visit the city if you come here and the cathedral which is located outside the chateau... More

OK. To be honest, at this point in our trip I was well into castle/chateau/cathedral overload, so please take this with a grain of salt. If architecture, history and art are your passion, ALL of these places (there are many around France) will feed your soul. If on the other hand you have more of a passing appreciating for such... The Château de Blois was impressive to look upon. In 1429, Joan of Arc came here to be blessed by the Archbishop before departing with her army. It was also the home of several French kings such as François I and French queens like Catherine de Medici. The architecture was, of course, both beautiful and daunting, while the interior design... We went to the Son et Lumiere (sound and light ) show which starts at 10.30 and it was well worth it. Excellent depiction of the murder and mayhem at the palace during the time of the Royals. Beware: it is standing only.
