Despite the poor weather, we had a great time here. A lovely way to spend a couple hours, huddling under the small tents and tasting a mouth watering array of local and non-local delicacies. we also were able to gather many gifts given the diversity of products on offer. We especially loved the hand-made soap products availabel at a very... More

Nice area with character - lots of restaurants and a few shops. Nice place for a drink and conversation. The Joan of Arc Church is there where they turned her a bit crispy. Beware on nights when there is a football / soccer match on as they do tend to get a bit roudy especially if it is certain teams... More

There can be few things better than sitting outside a café in the Place de Vieux-Marche in Rouen. It has everything. It has great cafes and restaurants; it has one of the most beautiful churches in the world and it has a history that cannot fail to make you think. It encourages a philosophical attitude to life and I have... More

Lovely little area, just a stroll on a nice day, like the rest of the town. Go when the shops are open though, more of a buzz. Lovely restaurants as well, lively.

We had diner at the Place du Vieux Marché, next to a souvenir shop and the next day we were sick from fish!

One of the only places in Rouen where you can drink something on sunday morning, there are plenty bars with outside seats.

The Sunday market was my favorite time spent in Rouen. I went to several markets throughout France during my three week holiday. Rouen was my favorite! The entire town was closed except for a few cafés and restaurants. The main square & side streets were bustling with people. Anything & everything was for sale. My husband had an outstanding sausage... More

Walking by the stalls with their fresh hot dishes and cooked meat like duck breasts and whole chickens, I wished I had somewhere to store and sit down to eat some of these things. I suppose we could've gone back to our hotel room and eaten, but hanging out in the Place du Vieux-Marche was fun and we didn't want... More

The Place du Vieux-Marche, literally the ancient market square, is a picturesque old marketplace in the old town of Rouen. To the southern side are various café bars and restaurants, and also a couple of museums, with attractively coloured half-timbered buildings dominating that side of the square. To the east is the Rue de Grande Horloge, while the northern side... More

In the center of Place du Vieux Marche is a beautiful modern church of Saint Joan of Arc. This is a wonderful church with stunning stained glass windows. And next to the church is the site were Joan of Arc was burned at the stake. There is a statue of her and memorial to her. Surrounding this area are old... More
