Of course, this area appeals to visitors as there are so many restaurants around, including the oldest in France dating back the 14th Century (they say !). But it is certainly busy, sometimes overcrowded. The recent addition of the Joan of Arc Church (on the very spot of her death) is weird. However, the covered local market is full of... More

More French than France ! Oh wait, this is Normandy ! Beautiful square and buildings. An absolute architectural dream from the building to the clock tower up from the square. Restaurants, Cafes, Shops galore. Some very nice pastry and chocolate shops. Found some nice shoes and wife loved the macaroons.

Quite an interesting little square with such history. Joan of Arc was burned here, Julia Child cooked in a restaurant in the square, and years and years of architecture. A little bit of everything whether you are a fan of history, food, architecture, shopping or just want to soak in the French culture.

This is wher Jeanne d'Arc was burnt at the stake. There is a fish and vegetable market with an astonishing boat shaped roof. And an adjoining chapel dedicated to the Saint. There are numerous restaurants and shops lining the square. It is colourful and interesting.

The Place du Vieux-Marche is picture perfect and a beehive of activity. It includes restaurants, shops, the Church of Joan of Arc, and a archaeological excavation.

This is the square where Joan of Arc was burned at the stake. Today the site is marked for all to see. For that historical monument, it is worth a visit. However, it is also worth a visit for the beautiful square that it is today. Must see.

We came here of a warm sunny day, and spent ages wondering around enjoying the many interesting buildings to see here. Well worth a visit.

I remember that place from many many years ago i use to work around the corner, and it did not look that way. The place was full of stalls were you could by food. The government did a great job at restoring the place.
