We didn't go inside the cathedral but the projected light show in the summer evenings is definitely worth seeing if you are in Rouen.

I found this cathedral interesting from an historical point of view, a lovely model of a Viking long ship can be seen here. Unfortunately, access to the viking King Rollo's tomb was not available, its smoothing I wanted to see, In the evening, a light show is played onto the Side of the building, depicting first Joan Of Arc and... This cathedral is both large and beautiful. We enjoyed its beauty both inside and outside. It is a definite must see on a visit to Rouen. It is similar in style to the Notre Dame in Paris but I like the Notre Dame in Paris better.

Make sure you see the light show - I think it was 10pm - at the front of the Cathedral. It really is amazing.

The façade is absolutely amazing and was built over 400 years, apparently the full period of the gothic era.

This was the first Sound and Light Show (Son et Lumière ) we had seen and it surpassed all our expectations. Absolutely beautiful ! We went in August and it was free - you just gather in the square at the front. There is no seating as such but there are stone steps you could sit on if you get... More

We watched the light and music show at 10pm which was fantastic - check show times as they move and we were lucky as had been told it was 10.30pm but it changed to 10pm the night we were there and we just happened to be there early. The next day we visited the cathedral during the day. Family are... More

We sat on the cold steps of the square outside the cathedral, expecting a show which would tell us more about the history of Rouen and the story of Joan of Arc. The show we saw was very professional with stunning effects but did not help us with our thirst for knowledge. The second show was about the impressionists and... More

This 12 th Century building towers over the town and seems to invite you to visit it. The building was damaged in WW2 and restoration still seems to be ongoing. Inside the columns focus your attention to the soaring arched ceiling. Stay for a bit and wander around just admiring the architecture and magnificence of the building. A must see... More
