Rouen's sites were included in a cruise excursion from Le Havre June 2011. Included with Rouen was Monet's house and garden. Everything we saw was awe inspiring as we were recently retired and travel novices. If I could do it all again, and for the first time, I would NOT go in a group from a cruise ship in a... More

Good restoration but as with much of Europe at this latitude you are reminded what was lost in terms of stained glass historic setting etc.

10pm they did a display with lights and music on the outside of the Cathedrale, it lasted about 20 mins and was worth the wait.

This cathedral was badly damaged in WWII, and for the past 70 years the renovation has been progressing. There is a very interesting and helpful description of the history and renovation process, and there is one of the most tender statues of Mary and baby Jesus that I have ever seen.

We stopped over in Rouen on our way back up through France and went into town for the light show projected on to the end of this stunning cathedral. The light show lasts about 15 min's and is repeated. It started at 22.00hrs. It is breathtaking one of the very best things of this type I have ever seen. Our... More

Just a gorgeous cathedral. Take at least an hour to sit inside, view the crypts, read the inscriptions, study the history, and view the stories of the d day bombings which did their best to avoid this incredible edifice.

Another of the seemingly countless impressive and beautiful churches to see in France. The inside is vast and contains a number of interesting memorials, including the tomb of Richard the Lion Heart. The outside though is breathtaking, the intricacy of the statues in particular.

Such a beauty steeped in history and full of charm The different styles meld together to create this special place. The summer evening light and music show is a must see; it just blew me away and I will always remember it. This Cathedral has a lot of history around the events leading up to Joan of Arc's death. It... More

Beautiful cathedral. The scale of it just is amazing. Had to go in more than once to see it. The photos of damages and restoration after WWII were sobering. The sculptures in back are not always accessible. Be sure to go for the amazing light show in front at 10:30 pm. Really cool!

this cathedral is huge, delicate and accessible. We had just been to Istanbul and commented that this was superior to the Blue Mosque. It is a wonderful building, and considering so much of it was destroyed in the WW11, it is so worth seeing.
