Before doing anything else go into the tourist information centre opposite the cathedral pay 5€ for an audio hand held system that gives information on all the sights of Rouen starting at the cathedral a good 3 or 4 hours to walk round and take in - even longer if you really have an interest

Following allied bombing in ww2 it's a miracle any of this fabulous building remains. A truly awe inspiring gothic site with amazing embellishments. It is difficult to describe such beauty in a single building but here size also matters making it the most incredible place encountered on our trip. Brilliant light and sound show played on the front of the... More

A truly stunning piece of architecture. Magnificently built cathedral in Rouen. Was under some renovation when we visited but even then this did nothing to detract from its beauty. Once again, if churches, priories etc are your thing, this is definitely a place to visit

This was my favorite Cathedral in all of France-even in Paris. It wasn't very crowded at 10:00 a.m. so we could freely walk anywhere. Loved the display on the WWII pictures and how the Cathedral looked after the bombing. The light show at night was extraordinary! A must see during the summer, and it is all free!

Cathedral needs renovation. Common for Cathedrals outside of Italy, they show their age and need cleaning of the exterior surfaces. Otherwise interesting.

Cathedral of Rouen is a great architectural monument - everybody shoul get in, who visits this town. Amazing portal, stone sculptures and stairs inside. You shoul also look at the illumination show during summer (every evening).

Located not far from the town commons wher Jeanne D'Arc was burned in 1431. Apart from being an impressive structure, the cathedral offers nightly at 11PM a great "lights and sounds" history show from the time of the vikings thru modern times.

Great night light and music show worth staying up late to see. Too bad you cannot record it because of being too dark :-)

If you see on Cathedral in France, this is it. I don't think that I have seen stone carving as delicate and on this scale before; the most wonderful building - elaborate, huge in scale and covering many centuries of additions. It was unintentionally badly damaged by the Allies in WW2 and I understand the dismay that must have caused... More
