Musee is best known for its impressionist collection, but I thought the 15th/16th paintings the size of a bus were superb and just did not get enough time in 2 hours to see them all. Really good value for money!

This museum though fairly small in size houses a remarkably extensive collection of paintings and art works ranging from the medieval era to Impressionists and 20th century artists. When we visited, there was an exhibition on Byzantine religious art and its influence on Italian painters. The exhibition contained some very beautiful works by medieval and early Renaissance painters. The permanent... More

This is a small museum, but has an absolutely wonderful collection. I am not that knowledgeable in art, but it was amazing seeing these masterpieces up close. Small crowds made it even more enjoyable. Do not overlook this gem.

I would have given 5, but the exhibition should have at least had translations in English. Although I'm fluent in French I found the reading a bit tedious, but the paintings, mostly religious tryptiques showing a transition from Byzantine (Orthodox) to a more modern style were fabulous. A real art buff would have got more from than me, an art... More

This small museum is absolutely choice. The collections are excellent, focused on Normandy with a good selection of Impressionists and moderns. On the same ticket you can visit the Ceramics Museum up the street, and the Ironworks Museum down the street. A wonderful afternoon that would be !!

I liked the lack of crowds so that I could enjoy some great paintings up close and with lots of time - Jericault, Monet, Van Dyke, Rubens, Sisley. I Didn't like the room explanation cards ofter referred to paintings not there, or in a different room. The special exhibition on Sienna was hardly worth it - very limited set of... More

the museum has a good collection of impressionist paintings and those from an earlier period. The building itself is most attractive too. Not crowded on a Sunday morning. Liked painting by Sisley especially and lesser French masters

This museum was a gem. Meeting some swans in the park across from the entrance was a nice way to start a day. I know a bit more than the average person about art, but the beaux arts allowed me to see some real depth in France's artistic history, particularly in painting. The sisler works rivaled the Monet, and I... More

Avery nice regional museum in a central location in Rouen . It fortunately has one Monet of the Rouen Cathedral , which was nice to see . A few other impressionists add to this era in their collection . There are a series of paintings in chronological order , room by room , that while interesting , we're not to... More

We enjoyed our visit to this museum. The featured exhibit was on Sienna artists of the 13th -15th century. It was very interesting and not the usual exhibit. We also went viewed some of the permanent exhibits which included Deschamps, Modigliani and some other impressionists. It was a good museum and I would visit again.
