We wanted to go on Tuesday October 20 but after spending a good deal of time on the internet trying to find out schedules for trains to Vernon and then buses to Giverny, we realized there was a strike planned for that one day. Seems it affected only about 30% of the transportation but it was frustrating not knowing timetables... more

Plan to spend a wonderful few hours in the sunlit beauty of Giverny. Monet's home, a simple yet elegant little museum in itself, is surrounded by the gardens that he thoughtfully planned, planted, and painted. You'll recognize the ancient willows dipping into the lily ponds, the quaint little bridges leading into the wooded areas, and the exquisite flowers of every... more

Worth the short trip out of Paris. Can easily save money by taking train from Gare St. Lazare train station to Vernon. (25 euro's rt.) Very senic and simple ride. You just need to metro to the train station. We were going to rent bikes, but it was a bit overcast, so we took the bus out of the train... more

We travelled here from Rouen and were not disappointed. Though there were quite a few people there, the place is big enough for everyone. It's not that huge, but the layout is cunning and there are enough private corners. The lily pond is amazing-like walking trough a painting, and the house is heartwarming and worth seeing for the japanese prints... more

The beauty of the gardens are indescribable and pictures do not do justice. We took a train to Vernon-Giverny and rented bikes across from the train station and biked to his house. I highly recommend this. We really felt like we did not just see Monets house but also experienced the French countryside. There was a bike path most of... more

If you get any chance to see this place, do it. Amazing to see, I took the entire family and they loved it - want to go again. Plan to get there early to avoid the tour buses and don't forget the bridge at the back accessible through a tunnel under the road. Also walk through the village as beautiful. more

The gardens of Claude Monet's house are amazing! We spent about 2 hours strolling through the small gardens and soaking up the atmosphere. Of course, we took about a hundred pictures of the gorgeous gardens that were in full bloom. However, the Foundation Claude Monet is a bit of a racket. Don't get me wrong, the gardens are worth the... more

This is one of the best places (in terms of stunning scenery, history and location). The kids, 10 and 6yr old girls loved it as well. Well worth buying "Linea in Monet's Garden" picture book before before you visit so that the kids can get the historry. "VacationsAreSoFun" (see review below) had some great tips. If you do buy the... more

We absolutely loved visiting Claude Monet's gardens in Giverny and part of this sublime experience was staying at a bucolic and quaint Bed and Breakfast, minutes away from the tourist-packed Giverny. Domaine de la Folicoeur‏ was so peaceful and comfortable. The food was fantastic and the hosts were very personable and friendly. We felt right at home. Visit this link... more

In Giverny you cannot take a bad photo. If you haven't heard of Monet, I'm really glad you came. It's a little piece of heaven and you have arrived. A lot of people want to see this so go as early if possible. If you are on your way to Paris go to the Orangerie in the Place de la... more
