Reviews on Trip advisor recommended spending at least 3 hours here. We spent 5 hours looking through the excellent and thought provoking displays. We travelled with grandparents and teenage boys and all of us were moved by the events recorded from the end of the first war though until the end of the Second World war and beyond. I'd highly... If heading to other Normandy sites, this is a great starting location. I would suggest starting with the movie and then moving on to the exhibits. This can be as short at 2 hours or as long a 1/2 a day or longer depending on if you are a history buff and how much time you have. The gift shop... More

My wife and I hemmed and hawed about spending the money for this. Finally we decided we'd kick ourselves if we didnt go. After spending 8 hours (almost open to close) we learned a ton, were enthralled the entire time and didn't regret it at all! Not great for young kids but anyone needing a primer on the lead up... By taking a shore excursion from a cruise, many of us got to see Omaha Beach and then a museum dedicated to the entire war. This has got to be the most educational museum in Europe. After we left Omaha Beach we had a better idea of the difficulty of invading there. The landings depicted in Saving Private Ryan are... More

This was a wonderful place to see first hand of the awful things war can do. Every one should see this lest we forget. I wish we would have had more than the 2 hours we alloted. It is awesome how they have the actual atifacts of soldiers of the time. The only draw back was I think the french... More

Something to write off my "Bucket List". I had thought about visiting Normandy Beach (D-Day Landings) for many years. To view the cities and beautiful beach fronts in this area, you would hardly know that these were the places where ultimate sacrafices, battles were fought to preserve World Freedom and Peace. Burned out "bunkers", "wave break structures", and large calliber... More

If you are planning to see everything in the museum you need to have at least 3 hours to spend. No many artifacts but several films and good information.

Very impressive museum. Because we were on an organized tour of the battlefields that included the museum, we had our guide walk us through and explain many things that you wouldn't get just looking at the exhibits. 4 stars out of 5 because it was very crowded. Excellent restaurant downstairs. Thank you French or taking evn your museum food seriously...and... More

A lot of memorablia, history lessons, and artifacts. Real period clothes, uniforms, guns, knives, propaganda, etc. Restaurant and cafe was truly fantastic. The croissants at the cafe were better than in Paris!
