Such a fantastic place, such great art selection. how can anyone say that they did not see many parts because of the cost!? to see beautiful art, no cost is too high. you can stay and enjoy each exhibit for as long as you want.

We were with a group at this museum. We didn't have enough time for this museum. It is a whole day affair to take it all in. Very well laid out with excellent exhibits. Don't miss the movie at the end. Was glad to see many young student groups visiting at the same time with us. If you have taken... More

What a fantastic place! Our tour started here with a BANG! Walking us through the strategic planning and the final assaults on the cliffs and beaches of Normandy. What a great way to prepare for visiting the beaches and cliffs of Normandy to the German gun emplacements! Outstanding!

We did not visit many parts of the Museum as the cost is comparatively high for a short visit. To enjoy all that it offers one needs to spend a full day there. Compared to UK museums it is expensive at c£15 but very similar in cost to other UK attractions but it is large with many different offerings, from... More

This gem of an ethnography museum is located in a medieval building within Caen Castle. The first aspect of this enjoyable experience was the price. There was a ticket that covered both the museum and the nearby Musee des Beaux Arts, reasonably priced. We had the further pleasant surprise that the price was further reduced by our Normandy Passes which... More

We began our Normandy tour here expecting to get some detailed information about DDay itself. To that point the museum didn't deliver. The information presented was more what led up to the event and the events surrounding the DDay than DDay itself. Not to say what was presented wasn't tear jerking and heart wrenching just not what we were expecting.... More

The exhibits are all set out methodically in different rooms if a very historic building within itself. You are issued with a paper guide that will assist you along the way. There are certainly many interesting items and displays in relation to Normandy's history and I very much enjoyed the experience.

Excellently told story of conflict in the twentieth century told in minute detail. Would advise giving half a day for the experience. The only negative; the staff were quite uninterested and abrupt. Basically got shoved out at closing without any prior warning, got spoken to rudely in the cafe, the tour rep looked like she'd rather be in a pool... More

A smaller museum in the European tradition, but full of information on the region. It was useful in putting the region into an historical perspective, from earliest settlers on. If you are going to spend time in Normandy, this is a great placed to start.

I was hoping for more on William the Conqueror but there was virtually nothing. They said there was more on him in Falaise - his birth place. Later we found a good pamphlet on William at St Etienne Church, which he built in Caen and where he is buried. The Museum, in the huge and impressive restored fortress covers early... More
