Our family of 3 took a side day trip to Normandy while visiting Paris, it was fabulous. We used Mathias LECLERE at www.ddayguidedtours.com for our tour, he is an independent guide. We took the train to Caen, where he picked us up at the station. My father-in-law came into Normandy with the 30th Battalion within a week of the initial... More

Mathias was a remarkable private guide for our small group of high school students from USA. He took the time to plan for our needs, adjusted at the last minute when we asked for a schedule change, and presented an engaging tour that kept the teenagers' (and adults') attention for most of a day. I would highly recommend spending the... More

Mathias' private tour of the D-Day Normandy beaches was really wonderful. The area that can be covered is much larger than it might seem. And driving yourself through all the backroads could be more work than fun. So this is one spot that it makes sense to spend the money and enjoy the day. Especially here where there is so... More

Mathias recently guiding my family across the D-day battle fields. I had read about these places on many occasions as a young boy. It was very special to be there and see these iconic places. Mathias's detailed knowledge was impeccable. The background history and the events of D-day, were clearly explained. The The finale, Taps at the American cemetery was... More

Mattias has an amazing depth of knowledge and passion that brings the history to life. He brings you to tears and he is sincere and honest in his interpretation of history. The day spent with Matthias was too short and we were sorry when we had to say goodbye. Not only did he captivate us with his knowledge of DDay... More

There are lots of options for Normndy guides. I can't tell you Mathias is the best , but I can say you won't be disappointed. He was prompt, very knowledgable and his English is excellent. He even discussed Arlington cemetery. I can not imagine a better day.

We spent the day with Mathias touring the Normandy region. Wow! What a day! Mathias took us back to the events that unfolded with a passion and knowledge that we haven't seen before. He is truly an encyclopedia but with a personal touch. We were able to witness the flag lowering ceremony at the American Cemetery as well as visit... More

My brother, his wife and my wife and I were fortunate to retain Mathias for our first trip to the area. Our uncle was a casualty on Utah Beach on D Day and from the time we met Mathias at the train station in Caen, we knew we were fortunate. We had provided him with our uncle's unit and related... We spent a day with Mathias in September 2012 (sorry for the late review). Mathias is a REMARKABLE guide! I have never met somebody so knowledgeable and passionate about their job. We started our Normandy tour in Sainte-Mère-Église where Mathias explained its history. He knows so many details about WW2, it's amazing. He has maps, pictures, diagrams. It comes to... More
