We visited this museum at the beginning of our day touring the D-Day beaches. The museum had a lot of artifacts, maps, and explanations which were very helpful in understanding the history and the progress of the Battle of Normandy, which enhanced our experience when we actually went to the various sites later that day. 20 mins walk from the centre of Bayeux. Lots of good information that is well presented. Worth seeing before visting the D Day beaches. tip: Make sure you find out the times of the showings before you go. We were lucky as we got there just before the last one More

If you take a trip to the Normandy area make sure you stop in this museum. It is much larger than it looks from the outside and it has a lot of impressive memorabilia. We are so glad we stopped in. I just wish we had alotted more time. More

This muesum has so much information that you will need some time to see it and digest it all. There is a film, alternating French and English (which we didn't see as we didn't leave enough time), but it is certainly worth seeing. More

If you go to the Musee memorial de la Bataille de Normandie during the hours between 12 noon and 14:00 be advised that they turn people away in droves because the museum closes for a 2 hour lunch. Very French but bad for business! More

This is a very incisive retelling of the Battle for Normandy - with explanations of each phase of the fighting. Each display is very detailed - and along with the military information, the human face of war is here, with exceptionally moving photographs - especially of the early war cemeteries and the dreadful task of exhuming thousands of soldiers from... There are several museums in Normandy dedicated to the d-day and the invasion. However, we weren't able to make it to the big one in Caen. So I am so glad that we went to the one in Bayeux. They have done an excellent job. Don't miss it. More

The Museum Memorial de la battle de Normandie holds a collection of equipment, artefacts and information from allies and the axis during World War II. The staff were very friendly and quickly escorted us through to the film (in English) that had just started. Afterwards we went through the museum and were amazed by the artillery and other equipment they... More
