For those who are interested in things like exotic foods and clothes it worth a visit. I went to see some books and objects, but I did't find too many options. I think it's a good option for a Sunday morning.

Spent easter weekend in Lille and heard great stories...was disappointing. Lots of junk and poor quality. Beware pick pockets. The food market was great. Buy roti (skewer chicken) poule just outside the food market. Really tasty chicken - don't forget to ask gravy. Yum.

Nothing of interest to tourists. A local market for local people. Much smaller scale but recommend a trip down Rue Monnaie for a classier experience and lovely local bars, cafes and restaurants - it's also on Sundays

Visited Wazemmes Market on a hot Sunday. I enjoyed this but I can see the faint-hearted may not. It was shoulder to shoulder packed with a huge range of people and a vast range of different stalls: fruit, vegetables, herbs flowers, clothes, bedding. The smells from the fruit stalls, flowers and herbs were delightful, from the people less so; it... More

The market is very interesting because Wazemmes as an area has many ethnic minority and student residents. There are some interesting stalls; a stall selling just fresh mint and corriander (much loved by the arabic north African locals); a stall selling Turkish Gozleme just like you see in Istanbul; This market is a 15 minute walk along the rue Leon... We went to Wazemmes Market last Sunday. I would not say to avoid Wazemmes but be aware of what you are going to. It is ethnically diverse with most non food stalls selling ethnic clothing. It was packed and we were jostled as we walked round - we had made sure that our valuables were secured as should all visitors,... More

Thursday (and Sunday?) is fresh produce - all excellent - and lots of normal market stuff like clothes, shoes etc. Indoor market runs every day with selected fish, meat, cheese. Still a great place to shop for food, but ignore the tat.

Well worth a visit - even on a rain soaked Sunday just before New Year, the market was buzzing - everything under the sun on offer - what a choice of fresh food and spices. Also some nice bars around this area serving fine Belgian Beers. We caught the metro from Lille Flanders to Gambetta, and walked back - about... More

This is a local market open for few days in a week. Sunday, Wednesday and Friday. On Sunday it is open in the morning. You will find a lot of things from grocery to food to household items.
