A Sunday in Wazemmes Lille is recognized as such for contemporary art exhibitions, and is also a spirit, a lifestyle, eat (french fry but not only), drinking (beer but not only) and for the melting pot and the best place is the Wazemmes market. The village of Wazemmes was attached to the city of Lille to the end of the... More

We went there on a Sunday for the (weekly?) outdoor market. First of all, as a food-lover, I cannot stress enough how much I like being in a food market. This was no exception. Lotta smell melting together in the air. We bought a lot of food and ended up having a french, vietnamese, greek, moroccan, american dinner!! Local "maroilles"... More

Wazemmes is a cool neighbourhood in Lille, packed with quirky pubs, home to the annual Wazemmes Accordion Festival, and most famously location of the Market. We went on a Sunday morning and there was a really nice atmosphere, wide selection of anything you may like to buy - bright scarves, assorted jewelry, and then fresh foods - meats and cheeses... We walked easily to Wazzemes Market from our hotel in the centre of Lille. It's not a large as other French city markets but it's still a good size with lots of food/flower and produce stalls and there is an undercover part as well. The undercover part is small compared to others we've seen but it's not bad and has... More

This market is huge! In the indoor market one finds the more high-end delicacies, and outside you will find everything else. The food sold outside and the people walking over the market reflect the international connections of France quite nicely. You can have a coffee at one of the many terraces around the market and watch the locals looking for... More

I found this market very initimdating in sections - to the point of having to tuck away my long dark blonde hair after being given LOTS of filthy looks. When people describe this as a market for locals, I did not expect this to include radical types preaching on every corner and intimidating people who they did not like the... More

I get why this is a great destination for a local - the food looked excellent. However, the indoor market (where most of the food is) is fine but not particularly attractive (I've seen far better elsewhere in France). But the outside market was just awful - (cheap clothing, tacky art etc)... It had zero charm. Nothing shabby chic about... More

Huge market which was absolutely packed with stalls and locals! A large variety of stalls including fresh fruit and veg, bread, cheeses, meat, olives, clothes and shoes! Seeing as the main centre of town was almost deserted, visiting the market explained where all the locals were! A great way to kill a couple of hours on a Sunday, and was... More

Sunday morning it was all happening. The flea market, alongside food and produce. It was ace. Spent a few hours collecting up supplies to take back to the UK. Cheese, meats, bread, and we even got a bunch of fresh fruit and veg it was so good. Super super value. A bag of olives 60 euro cents. Picked up a... More
