An interesting old trading place

This is a fascinating piece of architecture - and trading still goes on today, with a flea market under the covered areas.

A very interesting building to photograph and wander through - and it is free - some market stalls inside that were of specialist interest old books posters newspapers etc. Look for the English translation of its history in one of the 4 entrances

Unfortunately it was closed when we were there but the views of the outside are breathtaking. Do the ferris wheel and you will get great views of the entire city center.

This is a very nice location to visit. It immediately takes you back to the past. Nicely restored. When we visited there was a bookmarket going on.

In winter or in summer, this building is always so beautiful. Inside you will find a small market, selling anything from old books to old currencies or old coins...worth walking though..

I was hoping to see the cloister type internal square. However everything was closed. It looked fairly interesting from the outside in a prominent position in the middle of "The Grand Place".

Good information on local history with panels showing well know people with connections to Lille. Second-hand books, CD, bande dessinée sold here at the weekend.
