We were surprised at the types of animals in this free zoo near the citadel. Ranging from parrots to rhinos to a night exhibit. There are clean toilets inside zoo compound and a place to eat and drink just outside. Animals appeared to be well cared for, monkeys on island had lots of green space to play in.

Yes, the zoo is free of charge and it's a very calm and relaxing place to visit for a walk. It's captivating to watch the wide array of animals (mostly small to medium size). For that, I would say that this would be rated "very good." However, it's the twenty-first century and my views have changed and I feel like... More

Shady and quiet place with interesting mix of animals, who,all looked happy and well looked after. Can't believe that it is free of charge. Clean toilets too and snack food near entrance.

Fantastic place. Gibbons were so funny and looked to be having a lot of fun playing. Snakes were horrible - as you'd expect. My highlight were the two wonderful tortoise. They were massive Definitely worth a visit and I'm still baffled that it's free. One word of caution though - don't plan to eat there. It's not the best.

It's a very nice zoo considering the free entry. There was a wide range of animals arranged in a very good way. I especially liked the tropic zone which is an independent building full of snakes tortoises and monkeys :) A very good way to spend your Sunday morning at Lille!

Surprised this was free, a good many animals. If you have choice avoid weekends when its very busy. No tea/coffee stop available nearby.
