Walking round the centre of Lille there are lots of nice roads to walk down. Rue de Bethune is one of them and will lead you from the centre of town to the Musee de Beaux Arts. There are nice shops, a cinema and places to eat. Well worth checking out.

This is the main pedestrianised shopping area in the modern part of the city. All the best shops are here and there are nice shopping arcades (if the weather is not so good), H&M, C&A, Galeries Lafayette, Zara etc, as well as many excellent speciality shops. What is nicer than to sit and have coffee in-between bouts of shopping, followed... More

Lille has a big contrast between the old and new parts and this street is very modern lots of shops to check out. Like most of France it is very expensive and branded shops only, worth checking out a store called Cool Cats for some really nice clothing sales

Was bustling with people when we went. You find most of the shops on the high street here. Very vibrant and stark contrast to the old city. Definitely worth the visit

We happened to be in Lille on New Years Day (a public holiday, hence everything is closed!!) so went to the UGC cinema and watched the hobbit. if it says VTSoF on the listing it means it is in it's original language with french subtitles! probably common knowledge but just so you know ;-)

Rue de Bethune lacks charm but is still good for shopping as there are many French high street shops and a branch of the more expensive Paris department store Les Galeries Lafayette. Also to be found are Le Majestic and UGC Cine Cite cinemas which show many films in English with French subtitles.

Almost all the middle range franchised shops one knows in France are on this street, so it's very simple and quick if you are looking for clothes. Try the sides streets and surroundings too for more original shops, it's worth it!

And no French police in sight, and no security staff, ordinary shops, not worth a visit. I liked nothing here

Not a whole lot here, just chain fashion retailers like H&M. The street isn't marvellously clean and isn't worth 'visiting'- but it is the main pedestrian connection between the stations and Republique Square so visitors to Lille will no doubt walk down it.

The Rue Bethune is a wonderful street in Lille and probably the most happenning place in the city. One can find numerous cafes, bars, restaurants, shops and other shopping destinations here located under some wonderful buildings. A perfect place to roam around and enjoy an evening.
