Beside a beautiful park, with restaurant, outside seating , workshops and galleries, the best sight for me was the large freize based on a piece of his art and approved, completed by Picasso. The building is very spacious with some pieces that I found difficult to appreciate. There are some areas unsuitable for young people and you have to look... More

Spent a couple of hours here escaping the endless rain we were experiencing in the Pyrenees. We had some problems finding it but once located we parked at the Place de l'Europe which was about a 15 minute walk away. A beautiful space for exhibiting what we found challenging paintings, photographs, videos and installations. There were few pieces we fully... More

The visit started pretty well when even before coming into the museum we found a steampunkish merry-go-round (The Menager) in the park just outside. Inside a mismatched collection of paintings, performances, videos... We enjoyed specially a dadaist imperialista video.

Beautifully restored abattoir on the west bank of the Garonne, it houses a modern art museum, which is interesting but was a bit too 'avant garde' for our tastes.

The museum is of modern art, so be prepared.... and not very interesting modern art either. Have been to two exhibitions and was not remotely impressed either time.

The gallery is across the river from the main square in Toulouse but definitely worth the walk (around 20mins). The entry fee is 7E each. The space itself (a former abattoir) is fantastic - light and airy. The first piece we saw on entry was a giant balloon composed entirely of old carrier bags - you could walk around and... More

I saw the Franz Gertsch exhibition, which definitely needed a space like this, large, light, and balanced. The building itself has been very sensitively repurposed and is perfect for showing off large-scale art (and video installations in the basement). The staff were very friendly and helpful. The permanent exhibition was a bit patchy. It's a bit of a walk from... More

We've visited an exhibition by Franz Gertsch (summer '14). The building is a nice setting for his large painted works. If you like this kind of realist paintings, it is absolutely worth a visit. As in so many other cities, old buildings have been transformed to galleries. The walk towards the museum along the river was really nice. The old... More

Les Abbatoirs is now a Gallery of Modern Art so your enjoyment will depend to some extent on how you feel about modern art and on what exhibitions are on. Entrance costs €7. On the day we visited there were two special exhibitions - I liked some of the works by one of the artists but the other really didn't... More

Great reconversion for this old slaughterhouse just on the other side of the river Garonne.. Impressive space for temporary exhibition. Value of the visit is therefore in the building in itself, but of course will also heavily depend on the temporary exhibition, so important to check their internet page ahead of time. Place is easily reachable on foot from the... More
