Les Abattoirs is the modern art museum of Toulouse. The building is interesting and a good showcase for the permanent collection. They have a number of interesting visiting exhibits. Additionally, they have a lovely cafe that is perfect for a coffee or a light lunch. Next door is a nice park with an interesting carousel situated on the banks of... More

This place was busting at the seams the first Sunday of the Month as there was not entrance fee. The building is very handsomely remodeled from slaughterhouse to museum. That being said, once you were inside, it was hard to get out again if on the lower level. Not being a modern art fan, I question the value of much... More

Great building with interesting exhibits and installations including current Picasso exhibition. We ... Family with two teens....spent about two hours but could have stayed longer. We enjoyed the rain house and the man in the glass box(??) and Picasso's sculptures. Easy access via the metro, or walk as it is not far from the city centre.

a very interesting Picasso exhibition at the moment made the visit really worth the way out there. and the building of the former slaughterhouse is interesting by itself. on the groundfloor an interesting installation: a wooden house, where heavy rain falls - inside... all together worth to visit, combining it with a stroll along the Garonne river. Open 12 to18h,... More

Very Nice musuem of Art. Their art collection is temporary, changes often. We went there when art collection was a bit modern, contemprory, impressionistic. As of September an Picasso Gallery is expected to join the collection. Very nice museum to spend the day, to relax, unwind, and be inspired by art. Piece of dvise: Every first sunday of each month;... More

It was rather a nice surprise for me. Some of the Japanese expressionists of the fifties. some abstracts from the 30s. But the real master piece of the building is Picasso's Funerailles du Minotaure en Habits d'Harlequin; one gigantic piece veru resonant of the Blue and pink period but clearly intense in essence.

This was the abattoir but is now an art gallery. It has been redeveloped into an interesting building which is worth seeing. It is for display of modern art and also holds jazz concerts too. We were not keen on the art there but that is down to personal taste.

The rendering (no pun intended) of this building into an art museum was the art itself. However, with the exception of the 40m x 60m Picasso painting, there is absolutely nothing worth seeing here. I've seen multi-media installations and these have no wit, no point of view. It's just a lot of rubbish. The Wallingford Arts Center here in Nether... More

This was one of the primary places I wanted to explore in Toulouse. However I arrived at a little after 10 in the morning, and found it closed until noon. Had I read its hours more carefully, of course, I might have avoided this. I WAS surprised as while there may be other museums that wait until noon to open,... More

After reading in the rOUGH guide that this museum was a"must" see in Toulouse, my expectations were probably too high. Apart from the big art work from Picasso , I did not found much more interesting pieces... So disappointed...
