This church is very different with the huge columns down the middle. To view the famous palm tree vault, they have placed a huge mirror so you don't have to crane your neck. Very convenient. A sight not to be missed.

Like many of Toulouse's historic religious buildings this is built of brick. The main building is a great high hall with central supporting columns, soaring upwards and morph into beautiful fan vaulting. At the base of one is a large mirror and you feel you could fall into it. There is a fee to go outside and see the beautiful... More

This is much more than just a church - it was a full monastery complex, so in addition to the church it contains a beautiful cloister and other structures. The interior of the church with its vaulted ceilings is spectacular, and especially so the column known as "Palmier des Jacobins". At the bottom of the column there's a large circular... More

The mix of French-Roman and Spanish styles is lovely. The church wears its years and history very well. The interior brings back memories of The Cloisters in New York City, where I live. Beautiful gardens, columns and passage ways. Very well maintained and still under repairs. I agree with the other reviewers: read about the church and the history of... More

Enjoyed this church and cloisters the most of sites we saw in Toulouse. Would be nice to return when the renovations to the cloisters are complete. The walled garden area creates a reflective heaven inside the cloisters.

Although a lot of renovations was going on it is still a magnificent building to visit. Th history is worth reading about before you visit to help with the history of the church

Stark beauty in its magnificence. Currently, the site is undergoing renovations, but still well-worth a visit.

It is hard to tell if they are doing restorations (the interior is quite empty) or if it is meant to be this way. Still you must go--it is beautiful.

The convent of the Jacobins is also Mother House of the Dominicans. This fascinating building is characteristic of the southern Gothic. It houses the relics of St Thomas Aquinas. Its interior is somewhat bare , with only a few pews. However, the stained glass and vaulted nave are stunning and it is possible to see the decoration of the dome... More
