Rocamadour is a must see villiage in France. The village itself if very nice but the sanctuary built into the side of a cliff is what makes Rocamadour such an amazing site to visit. Make sure you wear comfortable walking shoes - the walk from the bottom of the valley to the top of the cliff is a significant. There... More

If your religious passions make this site important to you, or your desire for tacky and endless retail stalls is insatiable, or you'd rather not see far more interesting, uncommercial, and beautiful sites in the Dordogne region, Rocamodour is for you. I have travelled A LOT in France, but Rocamadour just blew me away! We visited towards late afternoon, and decided to stay for an evening meal, which overlooked the Gorge. One of the top tourist site of France and you can see why. This town is built into the hills. You suddenly come upon it from a very narrow winding road. Lovely buildings, narrow streets and superb views from the hilltop position. Restaurants / Bars / shops. Little fenucilar takes you up to the top by the abbey. More
