I love the peace even when it is busy as well as seeing so many young people working with the infirm, vulnerable or just offering help and companionship

The site was magical. The procession was uplifting. We collected a few bottles of holy water to bring home to family and friends. When comparng this site to Fatima in Portugal which was imbued with desperation, we found Lourdes to be hopeful.

It is difficult to see what Lourdes could offer a visitor if they aren't Catholic. The sanctuary, grotto, baths, museums are all geared to the fact that Our Lady appeared to a little girl called Bernadette. Lourdes didn't fit into the stereotype of poor village that pilgrim's money would benefit as it was a thriving town at the time. Now... More

This was a great experience when visiting there in 2011. One can meditate either in the Basilica or at the Grotto. Participate in the public recitation of the Rosary or attend Mass. You have choices and if one is fortunate to have time on hand, one can do all these things including Candle light procession and be filled with love... More

It is truly an emotional and spiritual experience. I took part in the candle light procession during the public recitation of the rosary and again visited the Grotto. You experience a beautiful calmness. The... More

The basilica is so beautiful in the morning when the sun comes up and shines on the front. At night, there is a candle light procession during a public recitation of the rosary. Be sure to visit the stations of the cross up the hill to the south.

This is a town of pilgrimage for Catholics, but, eve for people f other faiths - this sanctuary is welcoming and serene! The water that flows from the caves is very refreshing and sweet tasting. Come for the famed water, leave with a feeling of peace and calmness!
