A place bubbling with excitement but no noise pollution. People from all races, nationalities gather at the sanctuary grounds purely for the purpose of worship. A serious place, I would say.

I was privileged to visit Lourdes in 2011. I stayed in the area for three days, beginning with a visit to the home of Saint Bernadette (She received the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary). The entire town is dedicated to serving pilgrims, particularly the very ill and infirm. Hotels are a short 5 to 10 minute walk, depending on... More

I was amazed by the beauty of the site. Clear blue water runs through the sanctuary and the church is just a must see. You can tap water from the fountaintaps which is free of charge, you can visit the miracle cave also free of charge and walk around the park which is very serene among the mass tourisme. It... More

I always wanted to return to Lourdes since my first visit in July of 2011 was only 2 days. After visiting St. Bernadette's Shrine in Nevers in August of 2013 and having such an Experience there, Lourdes was beckoning me to come. I made the decision that I would go in March of 2015 for 8 days and my cousin... More

Our ship, Crystal Serenity, docked at St Jean de Luz on August 5, 2015 and we took the excursion to Lourdes to see this wonderful place at the foot of the Pyrenees. The bus trip was about two hours each way which only gave us about 3 to 3.5 hours to view all the attractions at this pilgrimage site. I... More

This should be a very spiritual place but I was left a little underwhelmed. The Sanctuary is impressive as are the various other venues (especially the underground church; the size of a football pitch). Likewise, the candle vault (if that's the correct term) is a mixture of solemnity and awe. The town itself is not particularly pleasant, full of hordes... More

I had the bad luck of planning it in the off season and missed most of the attractions that are closed. The entire area around the Grotto is dead to an extent that even the restaurants/ shops are closed and there is not much of food choice. The petit train is not functioning and the procession in the evening as... More

Visit to the Grotto took us to the most solemn and serene place we have ever been. The time of our visit was raining the whole day but that didn't dampen our spirits.
