The hikes are 2 to 4 hours round trip so you need to allow for this, as the drive up ends at the hiking trails. There's an easy gradient that passes two stunning waterfalls, and you can return via the second falls steps though they can get a bit muddy and you need to take care. The whole experience was... We were driving from Lourdes to Andorra. Instead of going through French highway system, we opted to take mountain roads. To be honest, it was hectic to drive through for 6 hours (including some needy stops) instead of 3 1/2 hours. it was only after we came back that we were in parts or sort of Mount Perdu. No wonder... The view from the village of Gavarnie was spectacular, but the hike to the base of the falls was breathtaking. The Cirque becomes more and more grand the further you travel inside.
