Our second aquarium in two days (after the very good Seaquarium at La Grau du Roi), Mare Nostrum was different but equally enjoyable. The stand-out highlight is the ship in the storm, very cleverly done and not just for the kids. The arctic zone and its penguins were also an unexpected pleasure, and the main tank with its sometimes bizarrely... More

The aquarium is well laid out and the fish are easy to observe. It has the added attraction of a ship on the high seas where visitors can experience what it is like to be at sea in the middle of a storm; it is very good for children. More

This came highly recommended by a friend, and we were glad we listened to her. It's not a huge aquarium, but we definitely felt like we got our money's worth. Several times we thought we had gotten to the end, only to find there was another room... and another... It is a very kid-friendly aquarium. There are little activities to... More

Not the word I would normally use for an Aquarium but this is special - theatrical in fact. First stop is on the bridge of a ship going through the "roaring forties" - you pitch and toss and water hurled at the windows and then the lights go out. Great and worth a visit More

Easy to find, a big plus! Just off the motorway(Peage.) Well laid out with interesting displays and lots of fun for children of all ages, especially the "ship in a storm" and feeding of the various fish and other animals. Well thought out and much more "hands on" than many aquariums. More

The aquarium is made for kids in mind (5-12 years old is best I think). I went with my 5 years old son and his cousins (4 and 7) and they enjoy every bit of it. The displays are made a bit like a playhouse, you get to experience a storm in a fishing boat, go down a a submarine,... More

Really nice, not the best aquarium i've ever seen though. But for the price, you can expect a 1,5 hour tour. You will like the storm simulator, as well as the hurricane simulator. A lot of different species, fancy sceneries. Note: if you are an adult, you can skip the last 3D movie... More

The Aquarium Mare Nostrum is a fabulous aquarium. The price may seem a little high at around €15 for an adult ticket, but I can assure you it is well worth the price. All the facilities are very new and clean and user-friendly. Our favourite areas of the aquarium were the penguins, as you can get right up close and... More

I think most visitors will find a reasonable grasp of French a necessity to understand the displays properly. That said, the overall layout and variety are excellent. Our 3 year old loved it, especially the amphitheatre viewing window which goes right to the floor so even the toddlers could get a good view. I'd agree that prices are on the... More
