You can spend hours sipping a wine or coffee or eau de mineral sitting at a sidewalk cafe here and see and hear people from all over the world strolling by. This is a highlight of one of the largest pedestrian-only areas in the world. Some free lance musician sat up everyday. At one end is the historic Three Graces... More

Whole are around the square is lovely with a beautiful tree lined walk one end- very vibrant in the evening especially at the weekend- lovely atmosphere Lots of cafes bars and restaurants but you need to choose where to eat quite carefully A lot more "down and outs" around than expected however especially around tram stops later in the evening... This huge public square in the old section of Montpellier is the meeting place for everyone. Large outdoor cafes line the square surrounded by 1850`s white buildings that are quite ornate. There is a carousel for children, lots of shops and the tram runs by the edge. On Saturdays it is crowded with locals all enjoying the ambiance, the cafes... More

It is the center of Montpellier's life. You can eat or have drinks in the various cafes bordering the square. It is very touristic, but the atmosphere is friendly.

Place de la Comedie is a must for a visit to Montpellier! The vibes and sounds of Montpellier could be found here offering everything from food, to shopping and people watching. The atmosphere and ambience is as enticing as the city itself! Looking forward to our next visit!

Lively fun and atmospheric Good for lunch and a coffee, try further into town for fine dining. Most bars stay open late

We were on a walking tour with a local and enjoyed this square very much. There is a wonderful working carousel to ride. Street musicians and café lift to enjoy. We arrived after the tourist office closed so that was a disappointment but there is a nice bookstore, a shopping center and a market in the park nearby. . .... More

Facing the Opera ( which looks much like theOpera Garnier of Paris) is the famous statue by Eric Antoine, called "Les 3 Grâces" Around the places a lot of brasseries, bistrots and bars offer nice seats for drink, food, fun and sun

When I first arrived I felt right at home. This is not so much a square as a huge outdoor family room. You'd never be bored here: so much colour and life. Everywhere you look there's something happening and something interesting to see, and the trams are a sheer delight. The street players and buskers bring a real buzz to... More

Park your car at the forum and walk 5 mins to a gorgeous sunny square, surrounded by lovely 16 th and 17 th century buildings and lined with cafes, to watch street entertainers, or people passing by. After soaking in the sights, wander through the historic centre and get lost in the maze of streets, no cars. Lots of great... More
