It is a lovely open area but not a lot else except on Friday evening it is festival. There are several open air singing sections, loads of stalls selling all sorts of produce. The main attraction is the wine tasting - there are loads of stalls from local vineyards with umpteen wines to taste and then there are all the... More

You can't miss the "egg place" with its Opera, reproduction of the Three Graces fountain. This is where I would always meet my friends as a teenager, before mobile phones!

Lots of atmosphere a carousel, the opera house, shops and cafés are abound, You can also catch the tram from here and a massive shopping mall abuts the area. there are also lots of independent shops to nose around. Beware that lots of shops shut for the summer weeks.

Visit during the day to do all your touristy things. Come back at night to experience a completely different side. I likened the evenings to a cross between Covent Garden & Edinburgh Royal Mile (during August) with a French twist. And if you like that sort of thing you'll (like me) want to return.

We stayed very close to Place de la Comedie and naturally we were crossing it several times per day. It is my favorite place in Montpellier, especially early in the afternoon when the light raises Place de la Comedie in another level. Recommended to have a glass of french wine in one of the cafes, relaxing and watching people passing... More

For a small town, Place de la Comédie is a cute little city centre attraction. There are restaurants overviewing the square, a water fountain, a merry go round for children and plenty of buskers. It's unfortunate how many beggars sit on the sides of the streets as you're walking to it, asking you for money but you can grow to... More

A cool place to relax, have a meal or drink. We stayed in an apartment overlooking it & it was great especially in the evening with all the musicians and artists down below us.

My husband and I had a wonderful time in this square. Lovely restaurants and quite lively at night. There are markets set up in the day which are quite nice.

This is probably the first thing you should visit when visiting montpellier. It's the central hub with cafes etc. food is good but I suggest that it's probably worth walking 5 or so minutes further into the cobbled narrow old street full of classy shops and cafes. Off the Place is the musee Fabre and the opera house.

The history of Montpejllier can quickly be grasped through a walk around La Comedie. Its wonderful buildings have played various roles through the years and it is along the boulevard from the Corum whose modernity majestically reflects L'Opera. But hey get an audio guide from the tourist office on the square. It is about €8 plus deposit and a great... More
