Montpellier's central square. Always alive, day and night, with restaurants, caffes, shops, and above all, centered around Comedie Opera House, nicely illuminated in blue during nights. A must in Montpellier!

We walk through here daily from our hotel either to the train station or to restaurants and shops. It's a nice square mainly pedestrainised with the odd council vehicle going through. The square is surrounded by beautiful old buildings. Restaurants all round the square. Market stalls are there in the morning. This is the centre of the city.

Whilst waiting for friends to join me from their places of residence and other hotels, I chose the Bar at Place de la Comedie to relax and watch as people came and went. The waiter and waitress staff were exceptionally friendly, and spoke EXCELLENT English. The general outdoor atmosphere, friendly staff and immediate connection to Place de la Comedie makes... More

Probably the most central place to start for a visit the city. Office de tourisme is helpful and the bars and restaurants are properly priced. Parking below is very low but with a good indication of available places.

Great architecture, lots of things to see and do. Good food possibilities also. 1 downside: it feels incredibly hot in summer due to all the stones.

Nice central square, very lively and buzzy with various things going on. Lots of bars and restaurants. Great for people-watching.

The Place de la Comédie is one of the most beautiful squares in France... it's so easy to sit at one of the cafés on the square and spend the whole day there. Be careful when it rains, as the whole Place becomes incredibly slippery! Beautiful spot for photo opportunities.

It's the mains square that has a lot of terraces where you can get a drink and relax. Here you can also find a Tourist Information Center and near it is a place from which you can rent bikes.
