Bad reception, but great castle

Entered reception, no other visitors there, only to be totally ignored by very grumpy looking receptionist on desk who refused to look up at us for ages. Weird. Finally she... read more

I thought I was going to love this castle because of its stunning location and its strategic position historically. Sadly I was somewhat disappointed. As previously stated the reception was disinterested, bordering on rude (and I speak good French). We paid 3 euros each with a Patrimonie Pass. I also think that since the castle is several centuries old they... More

Visited this castle with husband and two small boys (3 and 5) and we all loved it. We only paid 2 euros each to get in (kids were free). The castle is very atmospheric, there is nothing in any of the rooms apart from an art exhibition in one or two and a giant hammer in another and this just... More

Entered reception, no other visitors there, only to be totally ignored by very grumpy looking receptionist on desk who refused to look up at us for ages. Weird. Finally she snapped out that the price was 2 euros, so bad start. Anyway, no tour on so did our own thing and wandered through the castle tunnels and rooms which took... More

Inside is nicer than outside, there are several medieval rooms. There are guides in available in many languages, we had French, German and English. There are great panorama views! There are several small rooms with interesting historical pieces including the biggest hammer I have ever seen, which was used for metal working.

In Ireland we are obsessed about health and safety and avoiding being sued! With uneven surfaces and slopes in tunnels, this is not ideal for the unsteady but a great representation of what life may have been like for the inhabitants. Wonderful to walk around, there seemed to be a tour, probably in French, we were given a handy guide.... More

Due to works being carried out the tariff is currently 2 euro. The receptionist was disgruntled that we did not have the correct change yet when she opened the till there was plenty there. She asked us what language we spoke and we on telling her it was English she went to answer her phone and didn't give us an... More

A Castle which is being renovated. It is very interesting. A lot of steps inside, so it is not for everyone. Great views from it. Worth a visit.

It's worth the views to pay the 2 Euros. When we visited they had two art exhibitions of which one was somewhat interesting.

We had a wonderful time exploring this castle. The rooms are empty of medieval paraphernalia yet a number of the rooms held art exhibits. One of the painting exhibits we saw was particularly interesting and we had the added pleasure of meeting the artist. There are many fun places to stroll in this castle and some of the highlights occurred... More
