Great setting and wonderful views. Real part of French history. Great value for money as well. Very high up.

The Royal Castle is an incredible sight to see in the beach town of Collioure, France. It sights along side the Mediterranean sea. Behind the castle are the Pyrenees Mountains and Spain. There are no high-rises in Collioure, so the Castle is the focal point.

No information boards. No exhibits. No planned route to follow. Both art exhibitions were truly awful. Surely they could do better than that in an extremely popular tourist town. Extremely disappointing. Would not recommend.

When visiting Collioure, you must visit the Royal Castle with its interesting history of Catalans, Spaniards and Frenchmen. The entrance is only 4 euros for adults, comprising a simple leaflet to guide you. Of course, there is no longer any furniture or paintings in this castle, but interesting exhibitions with contemporary art. Just walk around the castle, discover the scenic... More

Entry price is very cheap - 4 euros for adult, 2 for students and juniors, The history of the chateau is interesting, with printed, audio and guided tours to choose from. The views from the walls are stunning. Beaches/bays to the front and sides, the hills, vineyards and other castles/towers to the rear. Worth the entry price alone just for... More

Well worth a visit , As is Collioure itself. This is one of the few historic sites close by in Collioure and it is a real treat. Dark passages, walls within walls, great views, and interesting history. Very well preserved and easy to get to from harbour area,

Our cruise ship dropped us off in the dreadful Port Vendres. We immediately took the tram to Collioure to visit Le Fort Saint Elme and we were so glad we did. The views from the fort are excellent and its various rooms really give a visiter a good sense of what life may have been like.

This is one of the few historic sites close by in Colioure and it is a real treat. Dark passages, walls within walls, great views, and interesting history. It's inexpensive to go here and a must see. Make sure you find the painting of Spanish Jews leaving from the beach in town after being expelled from Spain. Very evocative and... More

We enjoyed this castle a lot. It was convenient to go to from the harbor area and interesting. It was pretty well preserved. Very different than the Fort Saint Elme up the hill- I recommend seeing both, if possible. Getting to Fort Elme is not as easy.
