Its the home of Jose Bosquet, died just after the war and left as was - creepily - the rest of the house is used for archives and as exhibition space. From time to time they have knock-out shows that are barely advertised.

We only viewed this property from the outside because of the closing time. It was brought to our attention by the helpful assistant in the tourism office nearby. It seems an invalid poet, who moved in the circles of Andre Le Breton and Max Ernst, lived on the first floor and his effects make for an interesting visit... We could... More

a lot bigger than it seems at first. An interesting permanent exhibition and an excellent Max Ernst-related temporary exhibition when I was there.

As I work in a literary museum I was really pleased to discover this in the 'downtown' area. An impressive exhibition of wood engravings on at the time, which I absolutely loved, in a spacious hall adjoining the Bousquet displays. As for M. Bousquet himself, we could have done with more examples of his poetry, with a few pointers in... More

Before setting out "du côté de chez Bousquet", two important caveats: to get the most out of this strangely haunting tribute to one of France's significant modern poets and literary figures, you need to understand written French and have a bit of background knowledge of the development of French thought and lettres in the first half of the 20th century.... The interiors are nice (look at the ceilings in the rooms on the first floor!), but there was no particular exposition on display, only hooks hanging from the wall. And there was just a small room dedicated to Joë Bousquet. A bit odd and sad.... Luckily, there was no charge, as my visit took place on the Journees du Patrimoine... More
