A delightful day can be spent in the warren of the Castle walls. Some unique shops selling wares that are irresistible. You can easily spend the day here. There are plenty of restaurants also. Characters wander around in full story-telling kit too.

brilliant in January nothing to dislike as very quiet good for people who dislike crowds. In January not a lot of restaurants open in the evening especially during the week, might be better at weekend.

Beautiful, fully restored medieval city, absolutely romatic and great for sightseeing! However, if you are visiting for more than 3 days, do rent a car and go in the neighbourign areas, as the town can and will get a bit boring.

Felt like I was back in the time of the knights! Fantastic views from the castle of the old town. The Donjon Hotel was quiet and relaxing-I stayed at the annex part. Staff helpful. Enjoyed walking around;though the off season and many shops closed I still got lots of souvenirs;and food at the restaurants that were open. I hope for... More

Visited in January, low season-- most restaurants and places were closed. The great thing is you get to enjoy the walled city all to yourself and it is marvelous. The tourist flock is lean, so it is a good time to visit and great photo opportunities. I didn't like the dog poo! It's everywhere. But I guess that's France. It... More

To see the city from the autoroute for the first time, at night is to marvel. The Disney castle in Orlando pales in comparison. "Finished" before Columbus got his feet wet, it is amazing. One need not spend a franc ... Euro, or dime to fall in love with the old walled city. One can roam essentially freely within seeing... More

When I first saw La Cite , it took my breath away. I was on holiday at the time and looking for a house in Languedoc. Five years on and living within a 10 minute drive it still takes my breath away. I have seen it in all seasons and at all times off day and night and it never... More

Incredible sight as you approach. The city is huge and it is free entry. Something more of our historical institutions could take note of. There are many shops and restaurants inside the walls which would have been the case in medieval times. You will spend hours wandering the streets and walking the walls taking shed loads of pictures! There are... More
