Wow. Go there, it's amazing. Take the castle tour and make the line-up even if it's long. Its worth it.

Impressive site towering over the nearby road. Well worth a half day visit. Lots to see, we arrived at opening time to avoid queues and left by lunchtime. Lots of sweet shops for some reason, shops felt a bit Euro Disney but overall well worth a trip for the overwhelming scale of the site.

Super atmospheric city with lots of history. We really enjoyed wandering the walls and drinking in the atmosphere. It was rather busy but easy to get lost and loose the crowds. There are lots of lovely shops and things to look at.

The town is beautiful... too much so! We had the feeling of seeing San Marco square at the Venetian in Las Vegas. Too plastic and tidy, instead of being an alive and vibrant place. The only shops, bars and restaurants are overpriced tourist traps (avoid them. You can have much better food in the city). If comparing Carcassone to San... More

It is such a beautiful place, I've wanted to visit it since reading Labyrinth. Very busy and crowded.

Well worth a visit. Maybe best early evening when the crowds are less in season. Great atmosphere to walk around with lots of specialist shops

An excellent reconstruction- takes you back to the time when the viscount Roger Raymond Trencavel would have faced the 'host ' of northern barons led by Simon De Montefort during the Albigensian crusades when the city was a stronghold of the Occitan Cathars - Cathars were denounced as heretics and Papal legates declared war on the Cathars seizing lands and... Superb and lots to see. Though better to avoid crowded days. Surrounding parking lots very convenient but fill up quickly in summer. Much of the old city streets and features are accessible for free. If you don't have much time, skip the top castle part itself, which is the only part requiring entrance fees. On a crowded day, not worth... More

This was a wonderful experience. It was such a treat. We had a glass of wine in the garden overlooking the countryside... it was idyllic . The staff were great, the rooms were full of character. Perfect.
