Outstanding Medieval walled city. Full of unique shops, restaurants and cafes. Two hotels are inside the wall. Stay overnight to see the sun set. English tours are available for the castle and for the city. Book as soon as you arrive at information.

This is something special to see. It's a medieval city that still has residents. When you first walk into the city, there are tons of shops and restaurants in all of the tiny streets. Find your way to the castle entrance, and although it costs 8.50 euro to enter, it is well worth the price. This is where you will... More

The medieval city of Carcassonne with its walls is really magnificent. Unfortunately it is starting to become a tourist trap like all similar places. But it is still well worth a visit.

I had heard several good reports before visiting Carcassonne but the reality of the old citadel exceeded expectations. The buildings are beautiful from many angles and dominate the skyline from a great distance. The view as one walks back from the new city over the old bridge never fails to impress. Within the Cite there is a good choice of... More

Visited with my wife and we were blown away with the "Cite". It is a world heritage site and for good reason. We had never seen such an impressive piece of medievel building and on that scale. Even off season its very busy with tourists but don't let that stop you visiting its definately worth it. Given how impressive the... More

A great opportunity to see a Medieval city La Cite and Canal du Midi in a small city easily walked. The old fortified Citi is impressive but the Ville Basse more interesting with two large impressive churches St Martin and St Vincent.

I loved the narrow medieval streets all set out on a grid system within the city walls. Lots of nice little shops. Probably best to visit on market days for added interest.
