One of the great walled cities. If you want to see what the medieval times were like with ramparts and castle, this is the place to go. There are a lot of restaurants and shops located within the walls; however, it is very busy, full of people and is difficult to enjoy.

It's fun, Disneyland with medieval overtones. Food can be expensive, but not all restaurants are ripoffs. The Chateau Contal is worth a visit. But it is NOT in any way authentic. But do go.

We stayed in the Mecure Hotel - five minute walk from the Walled Fortress. For two days - we did wineries and then shopping and food in the Walled City - what an adventure.

Our trip was helped by being out of season, we went at the end of April, and the tourist trade wasn't in full flow, I believe during the height of the season it can get very crowded, we had the run of the city which when first viewed from the bridge crossing the river is very impressive and once you... Well preserved and restored medieval town. Well worth a visit. Try to avoid weekend's since they are very busy.

In the shoulder seasons you do not get many bus tours early in the day, so arrive early for ease of parking and no crowds.

Extremely impressive. The only thing I didn't like was the number of tourists!! It gets VERY crowded, but is a MUST-SEE sight.

Originally for sure a great medieval location, nowadays it only shops for kids screaming for toy soldiers and one bar/restaurant after another. It took us 15' to get in and out, the parking was free. Stay well away if you'r interested in something genuine, this place has been totally ruined and the funding comes from UNESCO!!!
