Spent the day here during our holiday, lots of things to see and do, we didn't do any of the extras that cost but we had a lovely walk around and the views were spectacular, we stayed for lunch at one of the outdoor eateries which was delicious and reasonably priced. The children had caricature portraits drawn which have made... More

Five of us (two adults, three mid-late teens) visited Carcassonne in August 2015. The reason for the visit to this UNESCO-listed heritage site was to look at and learn a little about the history of the fortifications and the town. Practicalities first: Parking - easy to find, reasonably priced and close to the site without impinging on it. Loos -... More

This was our 4th or 5th time visiting this amazing place but the first time in the peak July/August holiday period. Unfortunately the crowds were enormous making it extremely uncomfortable to move around or really see anything. However we did get to see the family oriented 'Chevalier' show featuring knights & a comical jousting tournament which was quite entertaining especially... More

I love all things ancient and the city did not disappoint. The entrance to the castle and ramparts was very reasonable at 8.5 Euros with under 25s free. The restoration to the site may not please purists, but I thought it was tasteful and appropriate. Could have done without the shops, but my family enjoyed them. Beware the sweet shops... More

Great Hotel, especially Courtyard Apartments. Lovely Village, easy to spend a day or overnight. Castle Tours & villages tours available. It does have cobble stone streets, not sure how this would be for wheelchairs but ok for prams

Spent the best part of four hours here on Thursday 27 August 2015. Walked the town, the ramparts and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Lots of other tourists but did not feel crowded. Incredibly atmospheric and very sympathetically restored. Easy parking and loads of places for lunch. Views were stunning and information available was appropriate and useful. Find time to visit,... It was quite a zoo around the entrance in August, and the high traffic shops there were quite useless. The ice cream was below french/italian standards. Yet, it was profoundly historical, especially at the center. We enjoyed the haunted house!

We visited here on our tour of Europe in our motorhome, it was very easy accessible .It can be seen from all directions when arriving by car and is breathtaking .The prices inside are very reasonable to eat and drink etc . plenty of parking in the surrounding area. Well worth a visit.

Impressive from the outside, but felt itcould have offered more. Even though we went on the ramparts tour you got very little real access to the towers and castle itself. My nine year old daughter said that Pembroke Castle was more fun as there was more to explore and more adveture to be had in Pembroke Castle. Carcassonne is a... More

Very interesting and beautiful location, but all the little shops inside do detract somewhat from the history. Sad that there isn't more information around the place to understand more without a guide book. Lovely atmosphere for early evening - the crowds have died down and its beautiful as the evening lights come on.
