It was like traveling nack in time, everything was so old, with a lot of history. The day I went it was raining and I think it was the best because there weren't so much people and the rain gave the city a great feeling. It was only missing the people riding horse and my knight dress.

The fortress inside is worth exploring. Lovely to walk around in and absorb history.

Wonderful way to spend a couple of days. The Castle and Ramparts are amazing so don't forget them. Carcassonne is a true marvel. It has undergone several renovations the most obvious being that of Viollet le Duc in the 19th century which mixes the gray leaden style of the north with the later renovations of the south with the bright red tops of the towers. The city was a fortification which protected the border between France and Aragon....

Beautifully restored in 19th century, the medieval city was added to the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in 1997. Need I say more?

The city lacks information about the history and happenings in general. There are just a couple of crowded streets of shops and such. They could do more to develop the area for events and activities for visitors.
