Highly recommend the ALOUETTE. Just four of us with amazing crew, Rory, Caroline, Sarah & Nick, how much better does that get?! The beauty of the Canal du Midi is breath taking. The daily tours to medieval cities and wineries. Walking on the toe path beside the canal and the 300 year old plane trees planted the length of the... more

We cruised the Canal du Midi aboard the Barge Colabri in late April/early May. Having been lucky enough to do quite a bit of world traveling in my life, I can honestly say it was the trip of a lifetime. The amazing amenities (everything was PERFECT - the food, the accomodations, the tour guide, the itenerary, the wine - all... more

I can think of no better way to see the Canal du Midi than by barge. It provides a leisurely way to experience the locks and see the beauty of the area. An excursion to fabulous Carcassonne, wine tasting at a local vineyard, fresh bread from the small villages along the canal are just a few of the pleasures to... more

My wife an I along with a friend just came back from France and the Midi Canal. We spent 4 days on the canal and with one exception it was a memorable trip and worth doing. The exception is: THEY ALLOW THE HUMAN WASTE TO BE EJECTED FROM THE BOAT INTO THE CANAL. POOP! And there are many many boats.... more

Float slowly down the canal in a houseboat, wait at the locks for your turn, stop every day when the locks close at lunchtime, pause for a bike ride, a meal, an opportunity to socialize ...life slows down and every day becomes a series of small adventures. The physical construction of the Canal hides it well behind its banks and... more

Relaxing while cruising through Southern France was what we had intended, but the reality was much more short stints of cruising followed by loch after loch, sometimes up to 10 in a day. Each loch takes a fair bit of effort, and if your "crew' doesn’t realize this, it this can make the trip a bit stressful. The scenery is... more

My family and I (parents and husband) rented a boat from Le Boat for a four night holiday on the Canal Du Midi. Our adventure started in Trebes and we 'barged' upstream to our destination city of Castelnaudary. While our experience with Le Boat wasn't the best -they gave us a boat that had a gaping hole on the side... more

Excellent time. Highly recommended. We hired a narrowboat from Minervois Cruisers at La Someil - very good service. Boat was in good repair (those from some other companies did not seem so good). We hired bikes, which was a real advantage as it allowed us to explore around the canal (as well as get fresh bread in the morning!). Take... more

Went for one week with Nicols, six ladies on board 1000 series boat, the weather was brilliant, 30degrees in August. Boat was spotless and the people at the base took us to the supermarket for us to stock up on whatever we needed to get started, tea, coffee etc. Only one of us had boat experience, something you would definitely... more

Just come back from a week on the Canal du Midi in a barge hired from Minervois Cruisers. The boat was very clean, very well equipped and very different to many of the other boats on the canal. The Minervois Cruisers team both in the UK and in La Somail were extremely helpful in assisting us with our route planning... more
