We hired a self-drive boat on the Canal du Midi for a week in June. The boat hiring company was Canalous, the boat was a Triton with a flybridge which was probably on its last tour before going to the knackery. The Canalous team at Carcassonne were excellent, but the boat was in poor condition with too many negatives to... More

Spent a glorious eleven days with minervous cruisers navigating the canal. Terrific views and many wonderful meals later we returned home completely relaxed and batteries recharged. Would recommend for those looking for a quiet, relaxing holiday discovering the real France. The company Minervous Cruisers provided a wonderfully well fitted out craft with all the mod cons. Within a couple of... More

11 July 2015 - 18 July 2015. Our second barge holiday and not our last! It was great being back on the Canal Du Midi and seeing a different route to our first trip. Did our grocery shop at the Spar in Agde and stopped along the Canal to replenish as needed during the week. A local taxi ripped us... More

I have read some reviews recently which put the Canal du Midi for cycling in a poor light. It should be highlighted that for the entire canal system (Midi, deux mers and Garond) it is aimed primarily for boats, so any complaints directed at the paths should not take away from the beauty of the area especially when it is... We hired bikes at the Carcassonne railway station for a day, had a great day cycling down the midi canal and back. We got as far as Puicheric and back, but only started at 11 a.m., if we had started earlier and it hadn't been so hot (35 degrees C) we would have got to Homps and back quite easily... More

Four couples rented a four stateroom Barge for the 10 day trip on the Canal. This is one of the most beautiful places to visit. In addition, the canal traverses some very historic parts of France as well as a wine growing region and then into a sunflower growing area. We rented from Locaboat and everything was just as advertised.... More

This trip was a "bucket list" trip for us, something we wanted to experience with our best friends, who live in Lausanne. We had done canal boating twice before, years ago, but our friends had never done a trip like this. The Canal du Midi was a wonderful experience for us all. We suggest that you book early. We started... More

Le- Boat - use another company !! Be very careful, when you book from them. awful service, we took the boat, the locks were stuck, we return the boat immediately but they refused to refund us !!! (claiming the locks are not their responsibility. come on... how can you travel if the locks are broken???)

We had 7 days from Castelnaudry to Port Cassafieres in June 2915 and for the most part loved it. Great way to see rural France although some if the small towns were closed for lunch as we stopped there. Four 60+ year olds who handled the boat quite easy (Royal Classique 6). The locks are amazing and everyone stops to... More
