Went for a week with my wife and we hired a 32 foot Linssen boat which happened to be brand new. It was a brilliant experience. The country side is stunning and you can't help but chill as you potter along the canal. Vinyards everywhere and most offering free wine tasting. Great food and restaurants all along the canal, but... More

The 2:30 canal trip on Lou Gabaret today including a stop at l'Epanchoir de Foucaud with French and English speaking guide. The trip was a bit long and boring - much of the canal is straight and it is 12 km to the first lock. The locks are interesting, but there is not much to see along the way. Vegetation... More

The canal trip was interesting in that you actually got to see how locks work . You are sitting in the boat whilst the lock fills or drains the water. I had never experiencedcthis before so it was facinating to watch. There is a tour guide aboard who is informative and tells you the story of how the canal came... More

If you want to spend a perfect afternoon with the family, you can rent a little boat and go on the canal. You may also go along the canal walking, it's a magical place.

We went on the Le Cocagne two hour boat trip which was a really lovely way to spend a couple of hours away from the hustle and bustle of the city. You pass through two historic locks and there is commentary in french and english. Ten euros each. good value for money

We had the barge Narbonne from Minervois Cruises (the same one that Timothy West and Prunella Scales had) for our wonderful trip from Le Somail to Trebes. We were the first people, 4th_11th April 2015. Emily and Tony were very knowledgable and helpful and 6 of us including 2 teenage grandchildren had a superb holiday. It was peaceful and so beautiful... We left on a self guided canal boat trip from Lattes into the Canal du Midi. Never have we seen so many deleict boats. Not only are they unsightly but they also consume a lot of the space where tourist-operated boat could tie up. Doesn't France do anything to get rid of the boats? Half of them are underwater or... Took a trip with Loca Boat on Canal du Midi from Argens to Negra for 7 days. The views on the Canal du Midi amazing, you cannot believe the beautiful views you see through out. We took a boat that sleeps 6 but only 3 of us, but even as elderly couple with our daughter we could manage the 54... More

From Carcassonne get the no. 10 bus from Gambetta to Trebes, get off at port du canal. Don't worry about getting off to late or too early the place is not that big. The cost is 1 euro. Go to the tourist information and ask for a map, you will be directed to short walks along the canal although you... More

What an amazing experience. We have just spent 10 days cruising down the Canal du Midi starting off from Castelnaudary to Port Cassafieres. It was an absolutely fantastic trip - the weather was great so it made the trip even more enjoyable. Everything in this trip was fantastic. I would really recommend anyone considering this part of the Canal du... More
