A pleasant place to spend a few hours relaxing - after the hussle and bussle of the Chateau, A couple of cafe's where you can sit in the shade. and just enjoy.

Beautiful and very peaceful way to spend an hour or two. After the crowds and pomp of Versailles Palace, the canal provides you with a real opportunity to relax. Rent a boat, create your own simple cruise. Beautiful and relatively inexpensive.

Very romantic for couples (us included), we had a great time and the rental rowing boats are priced within reach of normal folks. You will need ID (euro drivers license passport etc) to hire a boat, they retain your ID throughout, and charge by the half hour (think it was €16) per boat payable when you return, so keep an... The gardens and the canal are simply beautiful. After the crowded Chateau, this is a great way to wander at your leisure and get some fresh air. The edge of the canal is a great spot to enjoy a snack and watch the swans swim around. Highly recommended!

After a tour of Versailles, we had the chance to spend the afternoon on the Grand Canal. We were fortunate to enjoy a leisurely bike ride around the entire estate, following the path that surrounds the canal. Boats are available to rent for those so inclined. When you visit Versailles, plan on adding an hour (or two) to stroll the... More

Part of the Versailles gardens, we hired bikes to make the journey around the canal. You have to have id or drivers license to hire the bike. Fantastic road right around the canal under the shade of lots of glorious trees. There is only one very slight rise on the track, so suitable for beginner riders. There are a lot... More

The views of this grand design were magnificent, viewing this feature from the minor palace were calming and tranquil. Then were we got to the main gardens the canal opened up letting you see the grandeur of the "bigger" design. The view of the paddling boats reinforced the tranquillity.

I'm not one for wandering around gardens and such like, but this place is a little different, we hired a golf cart and drove around for a couple of hours, and it really is a beautiful place. The view down to the canal is amazing. You can have a coffee by the canal and watch the place come alive. We... More

Feel like a royalty walking along or renting a boat. The canal is huge and very nice, full of ducks and people. The perfect view on them is from the Chatteau.
