The calm waters of the canal manage to calm the minds of all who watch over it. We took a boat and went through the canal, feeling that one can in need shed all one's worries in its water!

We took a bicycle tour of the grounds with Blue Bike Tours and had a pit stop for lunch in front of the Grand Canal. Our guide was wonderful! Lots of great stories! The work took 11 years! It is huge!

It was a little breezy but for 16 euros we had an hour of rowing on the Grand Canal with the palace in the far distance. There is a really good restaurant with outdoor seating next to the boat-hire stand. Amazing weather!

Rent a boat but difficult to row up the canal because of the winds...be prepared to have strong arms.

Can rent a paddle boat to go on the Grand Canal. Canal is very long. You can take the mini train from the Chateau towards the end of the Canal otherwise it's about a 20 minute walk.

Its bloody huge. I think that might sum it up quite well. I recommend taking a bike or you'll be stuck there for awhile trying to walk around it.

the Versailles gardens are so beautiful some are better than others and the grand canal adds life to it as water always refreshes the place.

It was one of our favorite picnic spots around Paris and have spent many lazy afternoons here. Wide open spaces afford lots of room so you do not really feel crowded even at the hight of summer. The rowing boats are a treat for young and old. And with the magnificent gardens and Versailles palace as a backdrop you simply... More
