It's tall and gorgeous and right by the Seine- what is it? Notre Dame! And no, not the football team. This place is immensely gorgeous and very huge. You can light candles for people and walk around and see the beauty. :)

No visit to Paris is complete without a visit to Notre Dame. However, I found that the best parts of the cathedral are viewed from the outside. Walk around the base of the church to see the flying buttresses and the gargoyles. We went at closing time (when lines should have been short), and the line was still very long.... More

It was a rainy Sunday afternoon, so we decided to pop into the church to warm up. Lo and behold, it's a church commissioned by Louis XIV! Nicely heated up, we took our time wandering within it, appreciating the classical architecture, as well as the numerous treasures in the form of paintings and sculpture. And as mentioned by another reviewer,... More

Usual grand structure but you need to go inside to fully appreciate the beauty of the stained glass. Interesting model and descriptions of how the church evolved. The parc at the back is a nice shady place to rest and when we visited on a Wednesday a band was playing. Don't forget to wander the nearby Ile St Louis for... More

The line to get in gets long but moves quicker than expected. Beautiful and historic church. The treasury is amazing. It has a small fee, and it almost seems they downplay it. Not crowded at all. Jesus' thorn of crowns! Talk about an artifact, whether you are religious or not. Problem is the Treasury seems to open and close on... More

No doubt this should be one of the stops on your vacation to Paris. The architecture is beautiful, as well as the art and statues inside. You can see the history there. It can get a bit crowded so be prepared for that. It's great on a nice day to have a little lunch on a bench in front and... More

Due to the long queue at the Versailles palace we decided visit the village and came across this magnificent church. Built in 1686 it is an impressive structure and contains many fine works of art, statues, painted glass windows. Well worth visiting.

A lot of ink has been spilled (keyboard clicks made) on the Notre Dame of Paris. A less popular topic is the opportunity to take pictures from the top of the cathedral - of Paris and the statues and gargoyles on the building. I have just done it. Lovely! It is practical to take consecutive pictures to be stitched into... More
