We made a day trip from Paris and it was worth it. My wife has always wanted to go to Versailles Palace (Chateau de Versailles) and she loved it. The hall of mirrors was exciting and to see all the hidden doors they had installed was hilarious. Thought I liked it better because my wife filled me in on why... more

I've wanted to go to Versailles & see the hall of mirrors since I studied ww2 in secondry school. This is our 3rd visit to Paris & e finally got out to Versailles, I was so disappointed with the entire experience. It's easy to find, we got our ticket from a shop in the town, it was quicker than queueing... more

We've put meaning to visit the Palace of Versailles for many, many years, and always been seduced by the multitude of things to do in Paris. This time we were visiting Normandy and went from there. It was worth the wait. I agree about managing the crowds at the Palace of Versailles. They do have a lot to learn. You... more

I was so looking forward to seeing Versailles. It is beautiful and unfortunately we did not have time to enjoy the gardens. However, the place needs some redesigning on how to get tourists in and out of the Palace. It was so crowded (and this was in off-season) and people kept pushing each other. They should take advice from Hearst... more

The palace and the gardens are breathtaking. You feel like you are in another world, and feel the history. Visiting Marie Antoinettes home definitely brought you back, and her rebellious ways. You definitely cannot see it only in a few hours!! more

Right here, at the Versailles Palace. Much more than just an outstanding piece of architecture, the Versailles is an enduring testimonial to the life and culture that was once enjoyed by the ruling class of France. In it's lavish and intricately designed rooms, gardens, fountains, each detail, such as beautiful sculpture ornamentation even in tiny hidden corners, reveals the love... more

I went to the Chateau de Versailles several times during the four years I lived in Paris. The first as a tourist myself and subsequently to take guests visiting me. As the palace is steeped in history, the guided tour is worth doing. Do not forget to visit the gardens and grounds of the palace as well. more

This place is massive. There are lots and lots of rooms to look through so make sure you schedule enough time. We were there for several hours and barely made a dint! Also, the gardens are really big too and can be an activity in it of themselves. We went in the summer and it was HOT. The palace is... more

Very interesting attraction and a nice break from the bustle of Paris. I don't recommend paying to go in a tour group as a "do it yourself" tour is quite easy. Buy a Versailles return ticket at the train station in Paris. Be sure to get on a train which says "Vick" on the front and then sit back and... more

We visited the palace in August, and I have never seen so many tourists. It was boiling hot, which didn't help. They need to seriously consider restricting the amount of people they admit to the palace at one time. We did the gardens the afternoon and evening before, that was much more pleasant, and it was free. Our kids could... more
