The palace and the gardens are breathtaking. You feel like you are in another world, and feel the history. Visiting Marie Antoinettes home definitely brought you back, and her rebellious ways. You definitely cannot see it only in a few hours!! more

I went to the Chateau de Versailles several times during the four years I lived in Paris. The first as a tourist myself and subsequently to take guests visiting me. As the palace is steeped in history, the guided tour is worth doing. Do not forget to visit the gardens and grounds of the palace as well. more

Very interesting attraction and a nice break from the bustle of Paris. I don't recommend paying to go in a tour group as a "do it yourself" tour is quite easy. They need to seriously consider restricting the amount of people they admit to the palace at one time.
