Picturesque gardens in back of palace. When you get off train station do not be sucked in to buy tickets at Guidatours which has employees on the street sucking people into their store. There is no line to buy tickets right at the attraction. There was a line to go thru the gates irrespective. Enjoy

Versailles is absolutely beautiful and definitely worth a visit. The gardens especially are just magnificent. Buy a ticket which includes a visit to the trianons because they're worth visiting and are a lot less hectic. Take the mini train to the trianons its quite a walk from the chateaux. The Chateau is beautiful, but even with a museum pass we waited outside for 2 hours in the longest line I have ever seen. These crowds of course were also inside, pushing and shoving, which really took away from our enjoyment. The moment I got out from the Versailles - Rive Gauche station, you had the feeling that time stopped and you were brought back into the past. The Versailles palace is about 15 mins walk from the station and there are street signs to help you. You will need to spend an entire day there.

This place is a feast for the eyes!!!! Trully incredible! The inside of the Chateau looks a little run down, but perhaps is because of the amount of traffic it receives each day. The queues as always are huge. The castle inside is amazing, but it is just a castle with lots of luxurious things in it. If the weather is not good you won't be able to appreciate the gardens and hence I think it is just not worth it.
