There really is a lot to see so turn up early with your advance booking. Really good in house restaurant at the end of the house tour ( the one upstairs ) lunch is about 30 Euro per person and is worth every centime. Really good attraction and the town of Versailles and market is not to be missed

I bought a ticket online and arrived at the palace at 9am when it opens only to be faced with a huge queue to get in. I gave up after 30 minutes deciding that even when I eventually got in it would be so crowded that the visit would be ruined. Timed tickets with a maximum number of visitors each... More

Of all the tourist attractions, its a good idea to do your homework before visiting Versailles. The grounds include a number of different places you may want to see, and seeing them all is a very big day. I didn't realise until I wandered in, but access to the grounds is actually free most days (there's a fee when the... More

I have visited this attraction about 25 years ago and was keen to show my wife on our first visit to France together. Although we opted for a guided tour - which enabled us to 'Skip the line' the day we visited was experiencing one of the busiest days and our guide who lives in the area all her life... More

This is a palace built around superlatives: biggest, best, most expensive, you name it. It's best to avoid peak times (Saturday and Sunday in August) because the queues to get in are VERY long. Buying a ticket in advance, or using the Paris museum pass, is a good idea but we still had to wait 90 minutes. The line is... More

We booked a tour from Paris through Fat Tire Bike Tours. This cut down on our hassle of taking transportation and buying tickets, but it seems like the train would be fairly easy to figure out on your own. The main Palace was impressive, but hardly the best part. It was so crowded it was nearly unenjoyable. I would recommend... More

I was rather disappointing visit to the gardens of Versailles, instead of roses, wild flowers, I'm sure those were not the original flowers. Fountain had no water (someone said they were mechanisms over 300 years, but that is something that can be upgraded) as luxurious palace does not deserve such a careless garden. I not recommend a visit to the... More

If you are staying in or around Paris make sure you don't miss visiting Versailles. It is by far the most glamorous, enormous and interesting palace I have ever seen. The architecture is stunning as are the adjoining gardens. Sure you may have to queue for a fair while to get in ( as you do for most Paris attractions... More

After waiting in line for around 1 hour with two kids, we entered and saw many things. What we liked compared to other French castles is the decoration. a lot of furniture is shown and you get a feeling for how life was lived. The garders are much bigger than I every could imagine. With kids, don't stay over two... More

We planned to spend the whole day in Versailles, and went to get our tickets at the location. The ticket line was pretty fast and we got our tickets pretty quickly. We saw that the queue was very long, so we decided to visit the gardens first. The gardens are HUGE. They were the most beautiful thing we had visited... More
