The sheer size of the palace and the immense gardens is breathtaking. A huge part of French history is here and the biggest shame is that we ran out of time. Even though we arrived early and had pre-ordered tickets, there still wasn't enough time to get around it all. Luxury and opulence abounds. A super must see.

We went to Chateau de Versailles on a Saturday. There's a metro train that takes you straight to the city of Versailles and the chateau is only a few blocks away. I recommend getting the Paris Museum Pass, we didn't have to wait in line to buy tickets and we walked right in through security. The Hall of Mirrors is... More

Recently visited Paris for a week, and this was our only day trip outside the city - and it was worth it. The chateau is an incredible example of the opulence and majesty of the French monarchy up until the revolution. I would recommend a full day, including the gardens and the Trianon area. Unfortunately, it was cold and rainy... More

It was easy to get to from Central Paris and well signposted from the train station. there is plenty of renovation going on and a great deal of the gold paint is in the process of being renovated. the rooms were wonderful - full of paintings you only see in the best history books - English was the second language... This might be the single most incredible palace I have ever seen in my life. We went on a cold March day so it wasn't really that busy. It's a hard place to describe other than to say that, whatever your image, it's probably going to exceed that. Incredible scale, the grand and opulent rooms just kept coming. The Hall... More

Our visit was after the gardens finished blooming and some of the statues were wrapped for the winter. But the interior tour made up for what glamour we missed on the grounds. It wasn't too crowded which was nice.

We allocated a day out of our recent holiday to spend exploring these magnificent grounds! Be sure to plan your time carefully as you can easily get lost in one of the exquisite rooms and not get to see the full estate. The Hall of Mirrors is a site to behold - we were lucky as it was off season... More

On my trip to France a few years ago, my friend and I took a guided trip to gorgeous Versaille and it's beautiful gardens. What a glorious place. It was overwhelming in its ornate splendor and hard to imagine that this was once a residence of France's wealthy. I have been there before a decade ago, but never tire of... More

It's always amazing to walk around places where amazing, interesting and sometimes also sad history was made. It makes us realise what happened before we came along. You can read about places but sometimes you don't understand the grandeur before you see those places. And Chateau de Versailles is one these places. It's amazing, interesting and sometimes you can't believe... More

We stayed about a 15 minute walk from the palace of Versailles and after walking past it one day decided to pay it a visit the following day. I can say I'm incredibly glad we did! While there was a considerable wait and line to get tickets and gain entry - once we got in I was blown away by... More
