This is just an astonishing site on so many levels. The main chateau is so famous and you have seen so many pictures in so many different films of either the original or inspired by that it is awe inspiring to step into the real thing. The grounds and gardens are huge as well as the other buildings - highly... More

Will definitely need one full day to explore. It's almost 2-2.5 hrs from Paris city by train. Consider reaching the Chateau before 10AM to avoid enormous queues. If you've seen a lot or art already (assuming you've done Paris before hand), you might want to just skim through the palace and rush to the gardens and the other palaces on... More

To get the most out of your visit, be ready to spend there a good amount (or all) of the day. Palace itself is massive and is accompanies with even larger grounds. The palace offers a great insight of life of the royals just before the French revolution. Available audio guides will fill you in on all of the details.

We had read the travel guide books that suggested buying the tickets in advance to avoid the queues. We purchased the all area passports, but were disappointed on arrival to find that the queue to buy tickets took just a few minutes, but the queue to get in to the Chateau once you have your ticket was going to be... Fabulous grounds to explore. Vast area of gardens and water. Then go inside for a treat of history during a time of splendor and extravagance. Few palaces are its equal.

it will always remain the jewel of France. we waited for almost 2 hours in the rain to enter but it was worth it. a bit crowdy, but if you wait for the crodw to go, you can enjoy the marvellous decorations.

Its a must visit for people who are interested in history and world's best manicured gardens! Spend a lot of time in the Garden for which there is no queues and if you enjoy photography this is the place. One of most unique gardens and fountains ever seen especially with the story behind it. Do go inside early in the... More

We went via train from Paris to Versailles. We had taken the self-guided audio tour. The fountains and the gardens are beautiful but nothing unique. There're eating options at this location along with rest rooms. Its about 10mts walk from the train station.

We staid in Versailles to get in early, but unfortunately by the time we got up the line was already to the end of the square (at least an hour) Even though we had bought tickets the line was just to get through security. So instead we walked around and got in with no line in the late afternoon. However... More
