To really soak in the history devote a whole day to this amazing place....Not just the palace , but the extensive gardens and other houses as well. The Room of Mirrors is MAGIC! Take your own food...that on offer was not too expensive, but not the best either. The train to the other buildings can save you time and rest... More

Tips for Versailles:- -Arrive early, if you do, there is no one yet available at that time to direct you to the chateau after exiting the station. Turn right out of station, walk to first set of lights turn left & the chateau is right ahead of you. -Bring your drivers license if you wish to hire golf buggy, passport... More

Make sure to go here before 9am. Arrived at 8:15-8:30am and you can still count the people on the line. At around 9am, when they are about to open the gates -- people from around the world started flocking. Lol. We were lucky enough to be one of the first few to enter, we enjoyed getting around the palace plus... More

Visit Versailles with a guide because the history, the elegance of each area of the Chateau and beautifully maintained gardens are fascinating. Clearly a must see while in France.

We got a skip the line tour. Our guide picked us up at the hotel. She was very good at driving and telling us a lot of history at the same time. We went in the morning and were so glad because of the extreme heat that is going on now. It was beautiful and very impressive but there were... More

We travelled to Paris and Monets Garden on the 19th June. The palace of Versaille and the gardens were included in the tour. I think I hve visited the gardens some 3 or 4 times BUT Oh what a terrible thing they have done to the gardens by installing a piece of sculpture by the famous Anish Kapoor!!!!! The item... More

We were here for a tour and loved it. It is beautiful. It was very busy. You could spent 2 days here. We did spend some time in the gardens but could have spent a whole day to see it all.

I have lived around Versailles most of my life, and routinely guide friends there. Let me start by saying that the Palace and the gardens are definitely worth a visit. Here are a few tips I gathered: 1) there are NO lockers available for suitcases, be it at the stations or the palace itself. Only carry what you have to... More

The palace is closed on Monday but this is a fantastic day to go and see the gardens. It's free to see the gardens area and surroundings. A lot less busy with people and a lot more relaxing. Since you don't have to pay for admission, go rent a boat or bicycle. Lovely.
