We had a fabulous night at the Market Dinner class. It was an awesome experience to shop for our ingredients at the local markets, then prepare our meal together. We have four in our family, and the rest of the group was made up by a father-son duo from Arménia, and a young woman from South Africa. By the end of the evening, we had become like a family and the delicious meal was almost secondary. Almost! Our chef, Dominic, was wonderful and patient. Wine flowed, appetizers were eaten with good, crusty bread, and our meal was spot on. The only small negative was there was no AC. Since the temps were in the low 90s outside, it was very hot in the building (sweating level hot). However, most of Paris has no AC and the fantastic evening was well worth the heat, especially with a fan and some sort of portable air conditioning unit. I was told they are “rebuilding their AC” later on. That said, all of our family agreed it was the best night of the trip. Definitely book!

Cooking at home has never been so easy with Chef Éric!
We organized the cooking class as a birthday present as a online event to cheer everyone up during these hard times away from one another.
Chef Éric guided us how to prepare a delicious Crème Caramel and a Tajine and it went like.... hmmmm :P.
I can only recommend having a cooking class with him, a lot of fun and amazing food at the end!

Thank you for your review. So happy to hear that you enjoyed the class. We are delighted that we could help bring you all together even though you remain apart. A unique experience has been born of a rather distressing event and it brings us great joy to know that you and your friends still put your trust in us to deliver something that is both informative and convivial.
Until next time, keep cook'n

The class started out by shopping for our lunch ingredients in the specialty shops on a market street, learning about the various foods and keys to choosing them in each shop. The group choose the menu together and Patrick, our chef, gathered what we needed. We then went to the cooking school nearby where we prepared the meal while learning knife skills in addition to the various preparation methods. This was one of the better cooking classes I have taken, and although I was more experienced than the other participants, I got a lot out of the class. I particularly enjoyed our Chef for his humor, knowledge and ability to work with people of different skill sets. He took joy in sharing his vast knowledge with us and we did not feel rushed even with the class running late. I would highly recommend the class.

And ask for Sarah Tyler!
We booked an éclair cooking class online four or five months before out trip to Paris. We found a small number of options and Cook’ n With Class was the one that fit in our schedule.
On the day of our class we took an Uber from our hotel near the Louvre to a different, not-so-tourist part of town. We were early and found a tiny restaurant nearby to have a fabulous lunch, then we made our way back to the cooking shop for our class.
Our group was four people and we met Sarah, the teacher, and the other two class members. We headed into the kitchen area and learned the rules: do not lick your fingers! Sarah gave us aprons, had us wash hands, and described what we would do in the class.
Then we all worked together to make the dough for eclairs and cream puffs, pate a choux, a chocolate pastry cream filling for eclairs, filling for cream puffs, and two types of chouquettes. Sarah was in a constant state of instruction, working side by side with individuals, coaching with direction, humor, and joy. When we were done and had made a lot of desserts we ate a few and then Sarah offered us boxes to take home what we wanted. She also advised we could leave some and she would distribute them to staff and neighbors. That was an outstanding option because we could have never eaten the quantity of pastries we made and it would have been terrible to waste them.
If you are in Paris or planning a trip to Paris and enjoy cooking this would be a great choice! I highly recommend Cook’ n With Class; do yourself a favor and book a class with Sarah! We had an amazing afternoon!

My daughter and I had a wonderful time learning to make macarons with Pierre in early December 2019. He was very clear, patient and let us all try each step as we went along. The colours were so bright and seeing how the macarons transformed into the beautiful shapes was magic! Even better was being able to sample our creations and take several home. Once again, Cooking with Class impressed me with their down to earth classes, making even the most elevated of French recipes so readily accessible to the home cook. From the booking process to the class and follow up afterwards, this is a first class establishment.

Thank you for joining us for a macaron class in Paris. Delighted to hear that we provided a magical moment that you will remember. We'd love to see your home recreations. And if you ever need tips, we're here.
Best regards,
Chef Eric

Chef Antoine led us expertly through the Market Cooking Class. Starting with a fabulous shopping workshop- he brought us to the cheese shop, the fishmonger, the butcher the vegetable and fruit grocer and finally the bakery. I learned how to develop a cheese plate for events, how to think about sustainable produce and what kind of baked goods accompany a dinner. The education began long before we started cooking back at the school!
Chef Antoine's manner was joyful and generous. He is clearly an accomplished chef- teaching us how to expertly bone a turbot fish, whisk a Hollandaise sauce and craft a delicious pea-mint gazpacho. What was particularly notable was the congenial atmosphere he developed. The group of 8, which included 2 teenagers, was laughing and telling stories into the late night. Chef Antoines creativity with food items and his ease with explanations made the whole evening delicious and memorable. Best cooking class I've taken while traveling HANDS DOWN!

A cooking class where you shop for what’s fresh then assist the chef in cooking. The French Market class taught by Chef Antonin was a delight.
Chef’s style is laid back and knowledgeable and joyous. As we went through the shopping process Chef Antonin taught us about French Cheese, produce and meat that were fascinating, interesting and entertaining.
We brought everything back to Cookin with Class’ kitchen and went to work. Chef Antonin was not only entertaining but it was mind blowing how talented he is. From sharing knife skills to cooking techniques all while managing a group of strangers with varied levels of experience on the kitchen, Chef Antonin juggles it all with a smile.
The time management of the experience is spot on. When we sat down to eat the food was in a word, splendid.
I don’t normally eat scallops but after going to the market, learning how to open and clean them and experiencing the physicality of cooking them I couldn’t help but eat them and they were delicious!
My first group ended up making several courses which included lamb and dessert and we learned the French way of using a cheese board that I will definitely use at my next dinner party.
Every course we made was delicious and cooking in a group created a unique positive camaraderie.
I loved the French Market class so much I signed up for the Sauces class and the chef’s table class and an evening chefs market class as well.
The only downside is chef Is so busy doing cooking classes it takes a little while to receive the recipes emailed to you after the class. But be patient it’s all worth it.
I give the French market cooking class with Chef Antonin 5 out of 5 stars. LOVED IT!!!!

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review, it's very well written at that! We really appreciated having your company in the classes. I will pass on your kind words to Chef Antonin to let him know how much you appreciated his expertise.

As a veteran teacher and an accomplished home cook, I have no choice but to give Cook’n With Class a much-deserved A+. My wife and I have taken cooking classes all over the world, including Le Cordon Bleu in Paris as well as classes in New York, Tuscany, Lake Garda, Budapest, Istanbul, Bangkok, and Saigon. We had the good fortune recently to be the only two students in the class, so our experience was, in fact, a private lesson.
Our instructor, chef Antonin, was pitch perfect. His knowledge of French cuisine is expansive, and his ability to instruct is admirable. His intelligence and sense of humor added immeasurably to our nearly 6-hour session which started with a shopping trip among local merchants whom he knew personally. All the shops were artisanal and top quality.
Antonin tailored our instruction to our cooking skills, so there was no time wasted on covering basics that we had already mastered. My wife, for instance, learned how to bone out a saddle of rabbit, and I learned the finer points of making a proper sauce Sabayon for our fresh white asparagus. All our lunch courses were a hedonistic delight of classic French gastronomy.
Our lunch conversation added much to the enjoyment of our culinary creations. We learned a lot about the French, and Antonin, I’m sure learned a bit more about America. After several hours of cooking and feasting, my wife looked at me and said, “Wow”. I agreed wholeheartedly.

We took the market visit and cooking class with lunch with Antonin as our chef in September, 2021. Antonin was awesome: personable, easy to talk to, very knowledgeable, and fun to spend time with. His recipes were spot on, especially the mouth-watering baked figs with sabayon sauce and the cepe mushrooms with garlic butter. My mouth is watering as I remember eating the delicious blanquette de veau, calamaris, and of course the cepes, followed by the figs for dessert. I definitely learned some techniques that I will use in the future (e.g., removing the "germ" of the garlic clove for better taste, and how to prepare a delicious sabayon). He also gave us tips for selecting good produce (e.g., cepes) at the market. There were several small, elegant touches that Antonin added to his recipes that elevated the dishes to star quality (e.g., adding espelette pepper powder, cut grapes, etc.). This was a brilliant way to spend a day in Paris! Highly recommended.

Chef Sarah was amazing! There were 5 of us (3 adults and 2 daughters ages 9 and 7 y/o) and our class also included Esther (5 y/o) and her daddy. We made macarons and each child participated in mixing, folding, weighing ingredients, filling a pastry bag, making the "crusts" and filling the crusts. Sarah is an ex-pat from the USA and we loved her sense of humor. When the girls are older we will return to take the croissants class from Chef Sarah.

I am interested in the Mother of Sauces - Intro to Sauce Making?
Is it still available? Will be in Paris in May 2020. I looked online but nothing seems available to book for May yet.
Thank you.

Bonjour! Do you have any availability January 19 or 20 for your market & dinner class? My boyfriend owns a restaurant in North Carolina and will only be in Paris on those 2 days. I would love to surprise him with this. Thank you. Nancy

I agree, email them direct. Also, they do private classes so if their standard classes are booked you may be able to schedule a one-on-one engagement. That’s what my husband and I did and it was one of the most amazing experiences!!!

Hello! Thanks for your inquiry! We have many packages in which you could use throughout one month in Paris! You can start asap after you purchase and select your classes. You can purchase a package of 3, 5 or 10! Check them out on our site!
Also, no problem about the French! All of our classes are taught in English. The Chefs do speak French of course, but the classes are taught in English. Hope this helps and we hope to see you soon!

Not sure if my other question will alert you since I replied to previous question-Is there a difference in menu for lunch and dinner market class ?
Cook'N W
Paris, France1 contribution
The difference would be the chef & the students only as the menus are not decided in advance. You will let the chef know what you like as will your classmates and a menu will be created using the seasonally available produce. If the class wishes to leave it up to the chef, the chef decides. We try to accommodate everyone's tastes as best as possible. Because we have this unique way of teaching, recipes for the class need to be written up by our chefs and take a little bit longer to receive than with our baking or dessert classes.
Hope this answers your questions. You can also email us or visit our site.

Is it a demonstration class style or are you active the entire time? Are snacks/drink served throughout the full meal class ?
Cook'N W
Paris, France1 contribution
Our classes are hands-on. We keep the class sizes small so that everyone has a chance to participate as much as they would like to. For some classes, some of the prep work has to be done in advance due to time constraints. We offer coffee and tea in our waiting area and while we don't snack during class we do have a break (during the market class), for an Apéro - for drinks and a little something to nibble on to not spoil your meal.
Let us know if you have any further questions.
Best regards,
Yetunde
