Located on the western edge (literally) of Ile de la Cite, Square du Vert-Galant is an area that was quite hyped in my tour books and in some reviews as well. Unfortunately, it is a bit more difficult to appreciate what the area has to offer in the colder months. I’m sure it can be “one of the magical spots... More

The tiny Square du Vert-Galant is located at the western tip of Ile de la Cite, just below the Equestrian statue of King Henri. This small park was bought by the city of Paris and converted in public space in 1884. While being a very small area, Square du Vert-Galant is quite atmospheric and makes a great little spot to... this square (square means in french a very small garden) is at the very end of the "ile de la cité" ...to sit there is just like to sit at the prowl of a ship as it's at the junction of the two arms of the river....this square is absolutely near everything 200 meters to Notre Dame Cathedral 200 meters... We had read about this little square in tour books several years ago and finally checked it out in September 2010. A great little square, well-manicured, pleasant, and pretty quiet. We visited in the evening, but it was not crowded on return trips, either. If you stop in one of the nearby markets and buy a few sandwiches or whatever... More

Lovely spot for a rest or a bite to eat. The park is fenced and so safe for children. You can wander down to to the edge of the Island, and get some great views toward the West, beautiful in the setting sun.

This little garden on the point of the Île de la Cité in Paris is an oasis. Grab some lunch (preferably bread and cheese) and go and sit and watch the world go by, you won't regret this!

We went to this lovely park on a cold winters day, and it was empty due to the weather. I believe during summer this would be a great Park to visit.,it is in the fork of the Seine River and has great views of the Louvre and the Latin Quarter. I wouldn't bother going there on a cold day, but... More

On the western tip of the Isle de la Cite, this park is reputed to be one of the more romantic spots in Paris. We had just visited Saint-Chapelle and the Conciergerie so it was inevitable that we would find our way to the Square du Vert-Galant. With views of the Latin Quarter on the left bank and the Louvre... More

One of only three parks on the Ile de Cite this one is at the western tip. A small but delightful park in which to relax and watch the river traffic go by. With excellent views of the Latin Quarter on the left bank and the awesome Louvre on the right. A delightful spot.

Although it's long been discovered and usually crowded because tourists take the Seine boat trips (Vedettes du Pont Neuf) from this point, it's a very cute, triangle shaped park at the end of Ile de la Cite, accessed through somewaht concealed narrow steps behind the Statue of Henry IV. The gate of the park is the point where King Philip... More
