On this spot on March 11 1314, Jacques de Molay, Grand Master of the Order of the Knights Templar, was burned alive. As a result, the Vatican forced the Priory of Sion underground and (almost) exterminated the secret Bloodline of Mary Magdalene and Jesus Christ. There is a small plaque to commemorate this atrocity (see photo). The plaque is easy... More

This is the place to watch a Paris Sunset. Sit yourself down on the edge of the water and watch the sun set over the Seine river. Don't forget to wave at the dinner cruises that go by!

The Square du Vert-Galant is a small green space on the Ile de la Cite which is accessed via Pont Neuf. A peaceful little park, it has an equestrian statue of Henry IV in it.

Got engaged under the willow tree on our first night here. The light rain gave us the park to ourselves. The rest of the week it was teaming with people relaxing in the sun by the riverside.

Positioned at the bow of a somewhat boat-shaped Ile de la Cite in the middle of the River Seine, this little park seems to deserve more attention. Accessed from anywhere on the island or via the nostalgic Pont Neuf bridge, the park is named after the rather amorous French King Henry IV, whose equestrian statue dominates the bridge at street... Sweet pocket park on Ile de la Cite, where Le Pont Neuf takes a breather before continuing. Genuflect before the equestrian statue of the brilliant Henri IV, who saw to the building of the first permanent bridge in Europe (not to mention uniting France). This is where you meet the best of the Seine tour boats, Vedettes du Pont Neuf.

The Square du Vert-Galant is popular among locals for an evening picnic, and can be crowded in summer. As the sun sets over the rooftops, you get the very last rays of ligth here at the western tip of Ile de la Cité. Often people bring their musical instruments to play with their friends, and there is plenty of space... More

Located on the western edge (literally) of Ile de la Cite, Square du Vert-Galant is an area that was quite hyped in my tour books and in some reviews as well. Unfortunately, it is a bit more difficult to appreciate what the area has to offer in the colder months. I’m sure it can be “one of the magical spots... More
