This park is quite hidden and as a result is less busy than many others. It sits at the western tip of the Ile de la Cite and is accessed via steps down from the Pont Neuf. It is named after Henry IV who was nicknamed the Green Gallant. There is a statue of him on his horse at street... More

The Square du Vert-Galant is a small green space on the Ile de la Cite which is accessed via Pont Neuf. A peaceful little park, it has an equestrian statue of Henry IV in it.

Got engaged under the willow tree on our first night here. The light rain gave us the park to ourselves. The rest of the week it was teaming with people relaxing in the sun by the riverside.

Positioned at the bow of a somewhat boat-shaped Ile de la Cite in the middle of the River Seine, this little park seems to deserve more attention. Accessed from anywhere on the island or via the nostalgic Pont Neuf bridge, the park is named after the rather amorous French King Henry IV, whose equestrian statue dominates the bridge at street... Sweet pocket park on Ile de la Cite, where Le Pont Neuf takes a breather before continuing. Genuflect before the equestrian statue of the brilliant Henri IV, who saw to the building of the first permanent bridge in Europe (not to mention uniting France). This is where you meet the best of the Seine tour boats, Vedettes du Pont Neuf.

This little place is very nice to sit and relax away from the busy streets of Paris, you are actually in the middle of the river with views on both sides, its a popular place with both locals and tourists, worth a visit

The Square du Vert-Galant is popular among locals for an evening picnic, and can be crowded in summer. As the sun sets over the rooftops, you get the very last rays of ligth here at the western tip of Ile de la Cité. Often people bring their musical instruments to play with their friends, and there is plenty of space... More

Located on the western edge (literally) of Ile de la Cite, Square du Vert-Galant is an area that was quite hyped in my tour books and in some reviews as well. Unfortunately, it is a bit more difficult to appreciate what the area has to offer in the colder months. I’m sure it can be “one of the magical spots... More

The tiny Square du Vert-Galant is located at the western tip of Ile de la Cite, just below the Equestrian statue of King Henri. This small park was bought by the city of Paris and converted in public space in 1884. While being a very small area, Square du Vert-Galant is quite atmospheric and makes a great little spot to... this square (square means in french a very small garden) is at the very end of the "ile de la cité" ...to sit there is just like to sit at the prowl of a ship as it's at the junction of the two arms of the river....this square is absolutely near everything 200 meters to Notre Dame Cathedral 200 meters...
