These are amazing little treats. I tried a mixture of standard and more exotic flavors, and all were delightful. Plus I felt very posh with my wee pink box of zillion dollar cookies in the classy green bag as I waltzed around town.

Founded in 1862, Laduree is a Paris institution. The macarons are fantastic. Be prepared to wait in line but it is worth it. Also try the teas.

Even though I absolutely love sugar, I didn't get what the fuss was about until I tasted the caramel macarron. Totally worth it.

Geez, we waited in line for about an hour to get inside, at the insistence of a local. Got inside, finally, and I had the opportunity to buy cookies that were about 3 Euro each. They are smaller than an Oreo and not that great, in my opinion. Besides, you can buy them at nearly everywhere you stop, at the... More

This shop is overwhelmingly beautiful. I wish I could have eaten one of each. The macaron are as good as you get and in beautiful colors and flavors. Then they are wrapped in the most wonderful boxes, some look like jewelry boxes. I imagine these are the type of unusual french pastries served to King Louis and his court.

Some of the best macarons in Paris. They also have small shops in the airport and in the Galeries Lafayette food hall. Be sure to try the Foie Gras macaron.

I was blown away with the decorations and the amicable staff. However, having lived for a few months in Paris, I've found better ways to park my money, quality wise. Nevertheless if you want to soak in the French patisseries experience, Laduree is a good start.
