So much life and so many small shops to discover. This area is by far the best part of Paris in my opinion.

I caught the metro to Rambuteau Station, started walking down Rue Rambuteau, until I came to Hotel de Soubise. Popped inside to the Museum of French History and of French Archives for a quick look then continued on down rue des Francs Bourgeois until I came to rue Elzevir, turned left into this and saw the welcome sign 'Hotel Cognacq-Jay.'... I like this area, but like Saint-Germain better. Its small streets and if you just wonder around you will find all kinds of stuff. Just like Paris you just need to start walking and exploring. We found a great Crepe place and Flaffal place as well.

Old and romantic streets. You can smell the old days ambience. Also there is lots of art galeries and stores. Enjoy it.

Or maybe second favorite after St Germain, both these areas, especialy le Marais with its small curved streets and small boutique retain some unchanged Parisian charm. The jewish quater is my favorite are here and its also pretty convenient to go back and forth to St Germain and the latin quater.

This is my favorite neighborhood in Paris because of the diversity. High-end shopping with low-end bars and bistros. Upscale visitors and blue-collar workers share the streets. There is something for everyone!

Staying in Le Marais

Neighborhood Profile
Le Marais
The Marais is a winding maze of multi-faceted streets that beg to be explored. It bursts with small boutiques, historic buildings, cozy traditional restaurants, and hidden parks. Around each corner, you'll come across little gems of architecture spanning the centuries, from understated medieval towers to classical libraries and 17th century splendor. This neighborhood unites a rich mix of people of all ages, but it's best known for the gay scene mostly in the south and the Jewish community around Rue des Rosiers.
